o Skyworks to Acquire Sunnyvale-Based PMC-Sierra for $2 Billion in Cash

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Skyworks Solutions, a Massachusetts-based developer of analog semiconductors, said on Tuesday it will pay $2 billion in cash to acquire Sunnyvale-based PMC-Sierra, a semiconductor and software company focused on data storage, optical and mobile networks. Skyworks will pay $10.50 under the deal, which is expected to close by mid-2016. The company said the acquisition solidifies its position as "a highly diversified analog, RF and mixed signal semiconductor leader by significantly expanding its product portfolio, customer base and end market applications." Skyworks expects annual revenue for the combined company to exceed $4 billion. "Together, we plan to develop a wider range of leading-edge solutions for our customers, target new growth vectors and enable some of the most exciting networking and storage platforms in the world," said Greg Lang, the president and CEO of PMC.

o Cupertino-Based Seagate Technology Completes Deal for Dot Hill Systems

Cupertino, Calif. -- Seagate Technology, the Cupertino-based storage technology giant, said it has completed its $696 million acquisition of Colorado-based Dot Hill Systems, a supplier of software and hardware storage systems. Under the deal, first announced in August, Seagate paid $9.75 a share through a cash tender offer. The company said Dot Hill's external storage array-based systems and software products will complement its own storage systems offerings. Dot Hill is now an indirect unit of Seagate, and will no longer be listed for trading on the NASDAQ Global Market.

o Silicon Valley Bank Names Roger Leone as Chief Information Officer

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), a Santa Clara-based provider of financial services to technology companies, on Tuesday named Roger Leone as its chief information officer (CIO), in charge of the firm's IT operations. Leone previously served as SVB's head of IT infrastructure engineering and operations, and earlier held senior IT leadership roles at Pfizer and Bank of America. "As we continue to grow and scale internationally, Roger and his team will play a critical role in delivering the technology, infrastructure and service model required to support our global clients of all sizes," said Greg Becker, the president and CEO of Silicon Valley Bank.

o MapR Technologies Names Oracle Veteran Matt Mills as President and COO

San Jose, Calif. -- MapR Technologies, the San Jose-based developer of an Apache Hadoop data analytics platform, on Tuesday named Oracle veteran Matt Mills as its president and COO. Mills previously spent more than 20 years at Oracle, most recently as senior vice president and general manager leading an 8,000-person team. In his new role, he will be tasked with helping the company accelerate growth and bolster its market position worldwide. John Schroeder, MapR's co-founder and CEO, said the hiring will "help us maximize the significant opportunity ahead of us."

o Digital Guardian Acquires Sunnyvale-Based Code Green Networks

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Digital Guardian, the Massachusetts-based developer of an endpoint security platform designed to stop data theft, said it has acquired Sunnyvale-based Code Green Networks, a provider of data-loss prevention tools for network, cloud and mobile devices. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 2004, Code Green helps organizations protect and manage regulated and other sensitive digital information. With the acquisition, Digital Guardian said it becomes "the only security company exclusively focused on protecting customers' most valuable data at the endpoint, on the network and in the cloud from both insider threats and outside hackers."

(Mountain View, Calif.) Mountain View-based Mozilla, the software community best known for its Firefox web browser, on Tuesday named Ari Jaaks as its senior vice president of connected devices. Jaaks previously served as the senior vice president and general manager of Mobile BU at Intel Security, and earlier was the senior vice president of software and services at HP.

(Mountain View, Calif.) Mountain View-based Tubular Labs, developer of a video intelligence platform, on Tuesday named Denis Crushell as its vice president of Europe, responsible for heading the company's European operations and expansion from London. Crushell most recently served as YouTube's head of sponsorship in the EMEA region.

(San Francisco) SDNCentral, a San Francisco-based B2B digital media company covering the IT infrastructure market, said on Tuesday it has acquired The Rayno Report, a provider of IT infrastructure market analysis services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Scott Raynovich, the CEO of Rayno, will join SDxCentral as its vice president of content and research.
