o Milpitas-Based Aquantia Raises $37 Million in New Funding Round
Milpitas, Calif. -- Aquantia, a Milpitas-based maker of Ethernet connectivity tools used in cloud computing and large-scale data center deployments, said on Monday it has landed $37 million in a new round of funding, its eighth since 2005. New investors including Credit Suisse's Direct Equity Partners, GlobalFoundries and Walden Riverwood joined previous backer Cisco Investments in the round, which raises the company's total funding to $199 million. Aquantia is the developer of AQrate, a technology capable of increasing network speeds to 5 Gbps at lengths up to 100 meters on existing cables. The products were first unveiled in late 2013 and are currently in mass production.

o Twitter Names Co-Founder Jack Dorsey as Permanent CEO
San Francisco -- Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, who in June took over on an interim basis for departing CEO Dick Costolo, will now remain in the role full time, the San Francisco-based social media giant announced in a regulatory filing. Dorsey, the company's original CEO, also will retain his role as CEO of Square, the mobile payments company he co-founded in 2009, but step down as Twitter's chairman. The company also has named Adam Bain as its COO. Bain has serves as Twitter's president of global revenue and partnerships since 2010.

o Sunnyvale-Based Neumob Lands $8.5 Million in First Round
Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Neumob, the Sunnyvale-based develop of a mobile architecture designed to speed apps, said on Monday it has raised $8.5 million in its first round of funding, led by Accel Partners. Shasta Ventures, Eniac Ventures, Lightbank Ventures and several individuals also took part in the round, which increased the company's total backing to $10.9 million. Rich Wong, a partner at Accel, will join the company's board. Neumob said its mobile app accelerator for app developers -- consisting of a global network and an app accelerator SDK -- combine to make mobile apps perform 2-10 times faster than normal.

o Los Altos-Based Palma Ceia SemiDesign Lands Funding for China Expansion
Los Altos, Calif. -- Palma Ceia SemiDesign (PCS), a Los Altos-based provider of analog and radio-frequency IP for WiFi and mobile communications, said on Monday it has raised an unspecified amount in its first round of funding from China-based Dongfang Jingyuan Electron. The company said that Dongfang will be an active partner as it expands into China, and plans to use the proceeds to broaden and accelerate product development. "This latest funding round will help further the development of our solutions for advanced WiFi and mobile communications and allow us to bring our technology to a wider range of next-generation applications," said co-founder and CEO Roy Jewell. "It will also allow us to more aggressively engage with customers in China, a key market for growth."

o Sunnyvale-Based Yahoo to Double Size of Data Center in Washington
Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Sunnyvale-based Yahoo said on Monday it will expand its data center in Quincy, Wash., adding approximately 300,000 square feet to effectively double the size of the facility. The data center, which opened in 2007, will house thousands of new servers. The company said it also plans to add an unspecified number of new jobs at the facility when it re-opens next summer.
