o San Francisco-Based Gradle Lands $4.2 Million in New Funding Round

San Francisco -- Gradle, the San Francisco-based developer of an open source project designed to transform how software is built and shipped, said it has landed $4.2 million in a new round of funding, co-led by True Ventures and Data Collective. The company said it will use the proceeds to build on an enterprise business by releasing a commercial web-based offering, Gradle.com. Gradle also has named Charles Warren as its chief product officer and Miko Matsumura as its chief marketing officer. Warren previously served as the senior vice president of product design at Salesforce.com and UX lead at Google for Social products, while Matsumura held roles of Software AG and was a member of the original Sun Microsystems Java team. Gradle's technology has 9 million direct downloads so far this year, not including the millions of downloads of Google's Android Studio, which deeply integrates Gradle.

o Sunnyvale-Based Anodot Emerges from Stealth with $3 Million Round

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Anodot, a developer of business intelligence technology with dual headquarters in Sunnyvale and Israel, said it has exited stealth mode after raising $3 million in its first round of funding, led by Disrupt-ive Partners. The company, which now has raised $4.5 million since its inception last year, said it will use the latest proceeds to accelerate its product roadmap and expand its sales activity, focusing on the ad tech, e-commerce, IoT and manufacturing industries in the U.S. and EMEA. Anodot is the developer of a real-time anomaly detection platform, which is designed to isolate issues and correlate them across multiple parameters to alert users about incidents in real time. Anodot CEO David Drai said he came up with the idea for the technology after experiencing a data analysis lag problem as the CTO of Gett. "As a mobile taxi app, SMS text orders were dropped by the carrier, but it could take up to three days to spot critical issues and fix them, costing tens of thousands of dollars per incident," said Drai. "That's where I got the idea for Anodot -- to employ the latest advances in machine learning to detect performance problems automatically and in real time, eliminating the latency."

In a note to employees, Black called the decision "bittersweet," saying he is "confident that we today have a world-class finance organization ready to help scale this business to a billion in revenue and beyond," but adding "I am ready to explore and take on new challenges."
