o San Francisco-Based Salesforce Ends Pursuit of Twitter

San Francisco -- Following weeks of speculation about his company's potential acquisition of Twitter, the CEO of San Francisco-based Salesforce.com on Friday ruled out the possibility of such a deal won't happen. "In this case we've walked away. It wasn't the right fit for us," Marc Benioff told The Financial Times. "It's not the right fit for us for many different reasons… You're going to look at price, you're going to look at culture, you're going to look at everything." Salesforce had been seen as the leadering contender for the social media giant after potential suitors such as Disney and Google dropped out of the running. The news sent shares of Twitter down more than 5% Friday on the New York Stock Exchange.

o China's NextEV Opens North American Headquarters in San Jose

San Jose, Calif. -- NextEV, a Chinese developer of autonomous electric vehicles, said it has opened its North American headquarters in San Jose. The company said its 85,000-square-foot facility, located at 3200 North First Street, will house approximately 400 employees, and also serve as the center of its global software development operations. "The new space will enable us to continue to build the team and bring in amazing talent to create a next-generation, autonomous electric vehicle that will change the entire experience of owning and operating a car," said Padmasree Warrior, the company's U.S. CEO, in a statement. NextEV, which has been issued an Autonomous Vehicle Testing Permit by the California DMV, recently received a $10 million tax credit from California and more than $130 million in economic investments for growth in the state.
