o Mountain View-Based BloomReach Acquires Hippo

Mountain View, Calif. -- BloomReach, the Mountain View-based developer of a commerce personalization platform, said on Wednesday it has acquired Netherlands-based web content management company Hippo. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hippo's platform is designed to help businesses understand visitors to their websites, anonymous or known, allowing them to deliver the right content at the right time across any channel. Bloomreach said it plans to integrate Hippo's technology into its machine-learning engine, allowing it to create, build, personalize, market and measure digital experiences across verticals and geographies. "By joining [Hippo's] core content expertise and architectural flexibility with BloomReach's algorithmic superiority in commerce, we can build a single experience layer that powers any brand's digital experiences," said co-founder and CEO Raj De Datta.

o Tenable Network Security Acquires San Francisco-Based FlawCheck

San Francisco -- Tenable Network Security, a Maryland-based developer of software designed to continuously monitor enterprise networks for vulnerabilities and threats, said on Wednesday it has acquired San Francisco-based FlawCheck, developer of a tool that scans container images for vulnerabilities, malware and other risks. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The company said the acquisition will allow it to provide security for Docker containers and support modern DevOps processes. "FlawCheck is an amazing product that excels at detecting threats that otherwise would remain invisible, which is critical, because you can't remediate what you don't detect," said Tenable co-founder and CTO Renaud Deraison. "The unique capabilities… are a natural extension of the container security capabilities already available to Tenable customers." Tenable said it plans to bring a fully integrated product to market in 2017.

o S.F.-Based Parenting Tech Startup Winnie Raises $2.25 Million

San Francisco -- Winnie, a San Francisco-based parenting tech startup designed to help parents and caregivers find destinations for kids anywhere they go, said on Wednesday it has raised $2.25 million in a round of seed funding, led by Homebrew. BBG Ventures, Ludlow Ventures, Flight Ventures, Deep Fork Capital, KPCB, #Angels and several individuals also participated. Founded in January by Sara Mauskopf (formerly of Postmates, Twitter, YouTube and Google) and Anne Halsall (formerly of Quora, Inkling and Google), Winnie features a database of curated and crowdsourced information on over 1 million locations. The company's iOS app and website are designed to answer basic questions like "is there a changing table in the bathroom?" to more existential questions like "what should I do with my family this weekend?" "Very few tools exist to help people do this job better," said Mauskopf, who serves as CEO. "It was almost beyond belief to us that the tech community had yet to notice this opportunity, let alone seize it."
