o Fremont-Based Quantenna Communications Raise $107.2 Million in IPO

Fremont, Calif. -- Shares of Fremont-based Quantenna Communications fell 5% by late Friday, hours after the developer of Wi-Fi technology raised $107.2 million in its initial public offering (IPO). The company on Thursday night priced 6.7 million shares at $16 each, the high end of its expected range of $14-$16. The stock began trading Friday under the symbol "QTNA" on the NASDAQ. Quantenna's products combine semiconductor architecture with system-level software and cloud analytics to improve the speed and performance of Wi-Fi networks. o San Francisco-Based Twitter to Shut Down Vine Service

San Francisco -- Twitter said on Thursday it will discontinue Vine, the three-year-old social network that lets users post six-second videos. The San Francisco-based company broke the news as it also announced plans to cut 9% of its staff amid a company-wide restructuring. "Nothing is happening to the apps, website or your Vines today," the company said. "We'll be keeping the website online because we think it's important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made. You will be notified before we make any changes to the app or website." Twitter, which launched Vine in 2013, did not offer a specific explanation as to why it is shuttering the service.

o Study: More Than 1/3 of Social Media Users Worn Out by Political Content

Washington, DC -- A growing number of social media users now say they are annoyed and aggravated by the tone of the political interactions they view on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, according to a report by the Pew Research Center. A new survey of more than 4,500 U.S. adults found that 37% of social media users are worn out by the amount of political content they encounter -- nearly double the amount (20%) that likes seeing lots of political information on these platforms. Meanwhile, more than half (59%) describe their online interactions with those they disagree with politically as stressful and frustrating, and 64% say their online encounters with people on the other side leave them feeling as if they have even less in common than they thought. Some 40% of respondents strongly agree that social media platforms are places where people say things while discussing politics that they would never say in person, and 83% say they try to ignore friends' political posts that they disagree with. The complete study is at the link below.
