Berkeley, Calif. -- Wearhaus, a Berkeley-based developer of hardware and software designed to share sound between headphones, said on Thursday it has raised $4 million in its first round of funding, led by Tellus International. Xiaoxiang Capital and China Southern Media also participated in the round. The company also announced the general availability of its flagship Wearhaus Arc, a $199 Bluetooth headset built to let users listen to music or watch video together, wirelessly and in sync. "We've all had moments, whether sitting in a coffee shop listening to music or watching a movie on an airplane, where we want to share what we are listening to with friends," said co-founder and CEO Richie Zeng. "You can't just start blaring your speakers. You don't have a splitter, and so you awkwardly stretch an earbud across the table or your seat. The Wearhaus Arc puts an end to that." Companion iOS and Android apps allow the product to deliver new features and functionality through software and firmware updates. http://www.wearhaus.com/ http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20161117005481/en/Wearhaus-Raises-4MM-Series-Flagship-Wearhaus-Arc _____________________________________________ o Tipalti Moves to Larger Headquarters in San Mateo, Hires COO

o Report: FTC Leary About Over-Regulating Sharing Economy
Washington, DC -- The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) said on Thursday it plans to be extremely careful not to over-regulate Internet and app-based "sharing economy" platforms, such as Uber and Airbnb. The report, released on Thursday, stresses that regulation should address particular problems, but avoid actions that "are likely to hinder competition and are either not necessary or broader than necessary." Some state and local regulators have expressed concerns that sharing economy platforms let new entrants evade regulations designed to protect consumers and promote public safety. The FTC, however, stressed there needs to be a balance. "It is important to allow competition and innovation to continue to flourish, while at the same time ensuring that consumers using these online and app-enabled platforms are adequately protected," said FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez. https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/press-releases/2016/11/ftc-sharing-economy-report-explores-evolving-internet-app-based?utm_source=govdelivery _____________________________________________ o Briefly Noted:
