o San Francisco-Based Womply Raises $30 Million in New Funding

San Francisco -- Womply, a San Francisco-based developer of front office software for small and medium sized businesses, said it has raised $30 million in a new round of funding, led by Sageview Capital. The company, which now has raised $50 million since its inception in 2011, said several previous backers also participated. Womply said it plans to use the new capital to hire more staff, expand its product offerings and reach more small and medium business customers. The company's browser-based platform is designed to provide monitoring, analytics and marketing tools for SMBs, including online presence and reputation management, customer and revenue analytics, and marketing tools.

o Doximity Leads Locals in 2016 Deloitte Technology Fast 500

San Francisco -- Doximity, the San Francisco-based developer of a professional network for doctors, is the highest-ranked local company on the newly released 2016 Deloitte Technology Fast 500, an annual ranking of the fastest growing North American companies in the tech, media, telecom, life sciences and energy technology sectors. Companies are selected based on their percentage of fiscal year revenue growth from 2012-2015. Doximity is ranked No. 6 with revenue growth of 14,350%, followed closely behind by Redwood City-based Gainsight (No. 7), Palo Alto-based AppLovin (No. 10), San Francisco-based WalkMe (No. 13), Mountain View-based Pure Storage (No. 14) and Emeryville-based Tanium (No. 15). o San Francisco-Based BetterUp Raises $12.9 Million in First Round

San Francisco -- BetterUp, the San Francisco-based developer of an executive-level career coaching service, said on Wednesday it has raised $12.9 million in its first round of funding, led by DFJ. SVAngel and Freestyle also participated in the round, which will help the company scale to meet increasing demand for its services. BetterUp provides clients such as Facebook, Capital One, Logitech, Square and Deloitte with video coaching sessions; an array of bite-sized videos, podcasts, readings and exercises; engagement with coaches; and user assessments. "We enable companies to provide employees of all levels access to expert coaches that can help them grow as leaders, by developing the skills that drive personal excellence and professional performance," said co-founder and CEO Alexi Robichaux.

o Redwood City-Based Yewno Lands Additional $6.5 Million

Redwood City, Calif. -- Yewno, the Redwood City-based developer of an inference engine that mimics the human brain, said on Wednesday it has raised $6.5 million as part of its first round of funding, which now totals $16.5 million. Desmond Shum of GO VR led the tranche, which also includes previous backer Pacific Capital Group. The company said the new investor brings it additional expertise in the publishing industry, as well as an entré into Asia. Yewno announced its Yewno for Education inference engine in June with the participation of research universities including Harvard, MIT, NYU, Stanford, Stonehill College, University of California, Berkeley, the University of Michigan and the Bavarian State Library.

o San Jose-Based Virtual Instruments Acquires Xangati

San Jose, Calif. -- Virtual Instruments, a San Jose-based provider of infrastructure performance management tools, said on Wednesday it has acquired San Jose-based Xangati, a hybrid cloud and virtualization performance management company. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Virtual Instruments said that Xangati's technology compliments its own IT infrastructure performance analytics. Together, the tools are designed to give IT teams better control of application performance delivery and infrastructure spend within private or public clouds. "Our mission is to create a world where applications and infrastructure perform better together, and this acquisition supports that goal," said CEO Philippe Vincent. This marks the second significant acquisition for Virtual Instruments this year, after the company merged with storage performance analytics provider Load DynamiX.
