o S.F.-Based Periscope Data Lands $25 Million in Second Round

San Francisco -- Periscope Data, the San Francisco-based developer of a data analysis platform designed specifically for data scientists, said it has landed $25 million in its second round of funding, led by Bessemer Venture Partners. Previous backers Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Susa Ventures, Innovation Endeavors and AngelPad also participated in the round, which the company will use to add new talent and move into new markets. Ethan Kurzweil, a partner at Bessemer, will join the company's board of directors. Periscope Data's platform is designed to let data scientists more quickly investigate critical business issues and recommend strategic changes. "Our offering exponentially increases the speed and impact of data analysis," said co-founder and CEO Harry Glaser. The company, which also raised $9.5 million in its first round last year, boasts more than 600 customers, including Salesforce, Apigee, New Relic, SurveyMonkey and ProductHunt.

o Mountain View-Based Treasure Data Raises $25 Million in Third Round

Mountain View, Calif. -- Treasure Data, the Mountain View-based developer of a cloud platform designed to instantly collect and unify data from varied sources, said it has raised $25 million in its third round of funding. SBI and Japan's INCJ co-led the round, which also included participation from previous backers Scale Venture Partners, Sierra Ventures, AME Cloud Ventures, Dentsu, IT-Farm and Bill Tai. The company, which now has raised $54 million since its inception, said it will use the latest proceeds to support the market launch of its new Live Data Management platform. "Data is today's strategic weapon for competitive advantage, proven by the most successful algorithm-driven businesses like Google, Netflix, Amazon and Facebook," said co-founder and CEO Hiro Yoshikawa. "With a Live Data Management platform, any organization can immediately have a modern data stack, revealing a complete picture of their business to make better decisions."

o Palo Alto-Based indeni Raises $10 Million in New Funding Round

Palo Alto, Calif. -- indeni, the Palo Alto-based developer of a crowd-sourced and machine learning network operations platform, said on Tuesday it has raised $10 million in a new round of funding from Sequoia Capital, iAngels and CIRtech. The company will use the proceeds to expand sales and marketing activities and bolster product development. indeni has developed a platform that monitors devices from vendors such as Blue Coat, Check Point, Cisco, F5 and Palo Alto Networks. It's designed to let clients anticipate network outages before they become major events and avoid downtime. "We are providing unprecedented visibility to network health making it easier for organizations to complete their projects on time," said CEO Yoni Leitersdorf. "This round of funding will help us help us to do more, for more people, and cement our position as the leader in this space."

o San Francisco-Based FollowAnalytics Names Carl Theobald as CEO

San Francisco -- FollowAnalytics, the San Francisco-based developer of a mobile marketing platform, on Tuesday named Carl Theobald as its new CEO. Theobald most recently was the CEO of Avangate, and earlier served as an Oracle CRM product executive. The news comes just over a year after FollowAnalytics raised $10 million in its first round of funding, led by Aspect Ventures. Jennifer Fonstad, the founder of Aspect Ventures, said Theobald was the right fit for the role because of his "SaaS expertise and proven track record of driving global growth." The company's platform is designed to help marketers boost engagement through their mobile apps. Clients include Wells Fargo, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Allianz, AXA and BNP Paribas.

(Sunnyvale, Calif.) Sunnyvale-based OptraSCAN, developer of an on-demand digital pathology system, on Tuesday named Clive Taylor as its chief medical officer. Taylor, a member of the company's advisory board, also is a professor of pathology at the University of Southern California and editor-in-chief of Applied Immunohistochemistry and Molecular Morphology.

(San Francisco) Seattle-area based social media software company Tagboard has named Tyler Singletary as its vice president of platform, based in the company's San Francisco office. Singletary is the former vice president and general manager of Klout and vice president and general manager of consumer data at Lithium.

(San Francisco) San Francisco-based Stitch Fix, developer of an online personal styling service, has named Scott Darling as its chief legal officer. Darling previously served as the general counsel of residential real estate site Trulia, helping lead the company's IPO and subsequent $2.5 billion sale to Zillow.
