o Mountain View-Based Synopsys to Acquire Cigital and Codiscope

Mountain View, Calif. -- Synopsys, the Mountain View-based developer of electronic design automation software, said on Monday it will acquire Virginia-based Cigital and Boston-based Codiscope, which spun off from Cigital a year ago. Financial terms of the deals, expected to close by December, were not disclosed. Cigital provides software security services, while Codiscope offers complementary security tools. Synopsys said the acquisition will allow it to offer a comprehensive software security signoff tool. "Synopsys, Cigital and Codiscope have a shared vision of building security into the software development lifecycle and across the cyber supply chain," said Andreas Kuehlmann, the senior vice president and general manager of Synopsys' Software Integrity Group.

o San Francisco's Fillr Raises $3.9 Million in First Round

San Francisco -- Fillr, a developer of autofill technology with offices in Australia and San Francisco, said late Monday it has raised $3.9 million in its first round of funding. Participants included SoftBank China Capital, Southern Cross Venture Partners and Reinventure. Fillr said it will use the proceeds to expand its presence in North America, Europe and Asia. The company has created cloud-based artificial intelligence that uses advanced machine-learning to power a data exchange platform that can be used for any payment, checkout or data transaction on the Internet. "A significant portion of this investment will fund further product enhancement, including expanding Fillr's cloud-based artificial intelligence, while also allowing us to bring Fillr to new platforms, including desktop PCs," said co-founder and Chief Product Officer Chad Stephens,

o Santa Clara-Based Coherent Closes $942M Deal for Rofin-Sinar

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Coherent, a Santa Clara-based developer of lasers and laser-based technology, said on Monday it has completed its $942 million acquisition of Germany's Rofin-Sinar Technologies, a developer of industrial laser sources and laser-based tools and components. The company based $32.50 a shared under the deal, first announced in March. As a result of the acquisition, Rofin's stock will no longer trade on the Nasdaq Stock Market or Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Coherent said the combination will strengthen its position in materials processing, building on its capabilities in laser and photonics-based technology.

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Infoblox, a Santa Clara-based developer of network control technology, said on Monday that private equity firm Vista Equity Partners has completed its cash tender offer for the company. Vista paid $26.50 a share as part of the $1.6 billion deal, first announced in September. The firm acquired 43.8 million shares -- about 77% of shares outstanding -- before the offer expired midnight Friday. The merger was expected to close on Monday.
