o Santa Clara-Based Vantage Data Centers Acquired by Consortium
Santa Clara, Calif. -- Vantage Data Centers, a Santa Clara-based developer and operator of data centers, said on Monday it has been acquired by a consortium that includes Digital Bridge Holdings, PSP Investments and TIAA Investments. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Vantage operates four data centers on its flagship Santa Clara campus, with two more under construction and a second large-scale Santa Clara campus under development. "It… has significant expansion capacity in Silicon Valley, perhaps the best data center market in the U.S," said Marc Ganzi, the co-founder and CEO of Digital Bridge. Vantage will continue to be led by CEO Sureel Choksi and the company's current executives, each of whom has made an investment in the business alongside the consortium. Mike Foust, a senior advisor to Digital Bridge and former CEO of Digital Realty, will become chairman. Vantage also owns and operates a data center campus in Quincy, Wash.

o San Francisco-Based Genstar Capital Closes New $3.1 Billion Fund
San Francisco -- Genstar Capital, a San Francisco-based private equity firm focused on the financial services, software, industrial technology and healthcare industries, said on Monday it has closed a new $3.1 billion fund, and also raised an overage capacity of $650 million from select limited partners. The firm said it will use the fund, Genstar Capital Partners VIII, to continue to invest and take control positions in middle market companies headquartered in North America. Its previous fund, at $2.1 billion, closed in 2015. "With our new fund and overage capacity, we will be able to write investment checks over $600 million if needed, while still focusing on our sweet spot of deals requiring $100 million-$400 million of equity," said Ryan Clark, Genstar's president and managing director.

o San Francisco-Based Twist Bioscience Raises $33 Million in Funding
San Francisco -- Twist Bioscience, the San Francisco-based developer of a semiconductor-based synthetic DNA manufacturing process, said on Monday it has raised an additional $33 million in funding. Identities of the investors were not disclosed. The company now has raised $166 million since its inception. Emily Leproust, the CEO of Twist Bioscience, said the company will use the new funds to "further accelerate growth of the core gene synthesis business, as well as pharmaceutical discovery and data storage vertical strategies." The company produces synthetic biology tools, including genes, oligonucleotide pools and variant libraries.

o San Ramon-Based Accela Names Ed Daihl as New CEO
San Ramon, Calif. -- Accela, a San Ramon-based developer of cloud-based productivity and civic engagement tools for government, on Monday named Ed Daihl as its new CEO. He succeeds Mark Jung, who will remain executive chairman after serving as acting CEO since last August. Daihl most recently served as a senior vice president at Epicor, and previously spent eight years as the CEO of Surgical Information Systems (SIS). Now, in his new role, Daihl will help lead the company's next phase of growth.

Hayward, Calif. -- Impax Laboratories, a Hayward-based specialty pharmaceutical firm, on Monday named Paul Bisaro as its new president and CEO. he succeeds Kevin Buchi, who has held the roles on an interim basis since December. Bisaro previously served as the executive chairman of Allergan and president and CEO of Actavis. "Following a thorough review of candidates, the board determined that Paul's broad experience across the specialty pharmaceutical industry and demonstrated ability to grow and transform an organization, make him the right person to oversee the Company's future direction," said Robert Burr, the chairman of Impax Laboratories. Impax develops controlled-release and specialty generics, in addition to branded products for central nervous system disorders.
