Previous backers Bessemer Venture Partners, Comcast Ventures, Maveron and Qualcomm Ventures, and new investors including AGL, Liberty Mutual and European private equity fund SPDG also participated. The company now has raised $75 million since its inception, and plans to use its latest round to expand operations and bolster its products and services. o San Francisco-Based Node Emerges from Stealth After Raising $16.3 Million

San Francisco -- Node, a San Francisco-based developer of artificial intelligence technology designed to help make sense of the relationships between people and companies on the web, said it has emerged from stealth after raising $16.3 million in funding. The funding included $10.8 million in the company's first round, led by Avalon Ventures. Previous backers Mark Cuban, New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Canaan Partners also participated, along with new investors GREE, Industry Ventures and Michael Stark, the co-founder of Crosslink Ventures. Founded by Falon Fatemi, who at 19 became one of the youngest employees at Google, Node has developed a platform that automatically delivers relevant information about people and companies to help clients understand who they should engage with and why. "Search is great when you know what you're looking for, but what about the people and companies on the web you don't know you should be looking for," said Fatemi. "We're creating a new paradigm in how people and businesses build connections and realize new opportunities. Helping companies discover their next best customers is just the start." The company has been in stealth for the past 18 months, working clients such as BlueJeans Network, Periscope Data, Pagerduty and Outreach.io.
