o Sunnyvale-based Self-Driving Firm JingChi Raises $52 Million

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- JingChi Inc., a Sunnyvale-based self-driving technology company focused on the Chinese market, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $52 million in its latest investment round. The lead investor in the round was Qiming Venture; strategic investor NVIDIA GPU Ventures as participated, along with other investors. The company said the funds will allow it to rapidly expand its research and development teams globally, and ramp up deployment of an autonomous driving test fleet in China by the end of 2017.

o San Francisco-based ProsperWorks Raises $53 Million in Third Round

San Francisco -- ProsperWorks, a customer relationship software developer, on Tuesday announced it has raised $53 million in its third round of funding led by Promod Haque at Norwest Venture Partners. GV (formerly Google Ventures), Industry Ventures, Next World Capital, Storm Ventures and True Ventures also participated in the round, which brings ProsperWorks' total funding to $87 million. "ProsperWorks was built on the premise that CRM technology was hindering sales teams rather than helping them. By automating repetitive tasks and eliminating data entry through seamless integration with apps like Gmail, Google Contacts and Google Calendar, ProsperWorks is doing what industry giants have failed to do," the company said in a statement.

o Sunnyvale-based FlyData Raises $4 Million Round of Financing

Sunnyvale, Calif -- FlyData Inc., a Japanese-American company based in Sunnyvale, announced the completion of a $4 million round of financing. Mirai Creation Investment led the investment round, with participation from Amano Corporation and Nissay Capital. FlyData said it will use the investment to expand its sales and marketing efforts. The company's data application technology is used in the IoT and AI sectors.

o Report: Deloitte Hit By Cyber Attack; U.S. Gov Data Possibly Breached

London -- The Guardian newspaper reported that Deloitte, the large audit and consulting firm with major operations with the federal government, was the victim of an email attack last year that went unnoticed for several months. The paper reported that various U.S. government agencies had information that was comprised in the breach, possibly including usernames, passwords, and health information. The Guardian said the attack likely occurred last fall, but was not discovered by Deloitte until March, 2017.

o Salesforce Commits One Million Volunteer Hours to Computer Education

San Francisco -- Salesforce, the large customer relationship software company, on Tuesday committed to provide one million volunteer hours over five years to expand K-12 computer science education in the U.S. The move is an effort to prepare students for jobs in the digital economy. The company also said it would provide $50 million in grants to schools. Salesforce.org, the company's philanthropic arm, will also offer every eligible public K-12 school in the nation ten free Salesforce software subscriptions to enable schools and districts to connect and engage with staff, teachers, parents and students.

(San Jose, Calif.) BlackBag Technologies, a developer of forensic software used by police departments, announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Ken Basore as its new CEO. Previous CEO and co-founder, Ben Charnota, will remain with the company in the role of Chief Customer Officer. Co-founder and CTO Derrick Donnelly will assume the role of Chief Scientist. Basore was a police officer for 20 years, and was responsible for leading the development of the first Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory in San Diego.
