o Oakland-Based Globetouch Lands Bulk of Planned $40 Million Round

Oakland -- Globetouch, an Oakland-based provider of connectivity services for the connected car and Internet-of-Things markets, said it has raised the majority of a planned $40 million third round of funding after landing new investments from Hermes Growth Partners, Spark Telecom Ventures and Wholesale and Impact Venture Capital. Previous backers joining this round include Verizon Ventures and Zeev Ventures. Globetouch said the round will allow it to enhance its services and market share of the growing connected car market, as well as aid its push into verticals such as logistics, industrial IoT and healthcare. "With the added backing… we are realizing our mission to enable the connected car with applications that enrich the transportation experience beyond imaginable limits," said CEO Riccardo Di Blasio.

o San Francisco-Based Testim.io Lands $5.6 Million in First Round

San Francisco -- Testim.io, a San Francisco-based developer of machine learning test automation software, said on Thursday it has raised $5.6 million in its first round of funding, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. The company now has raised $8 million in the past year from early investors including Foundation Capital, Spider Capital and Heavybit. Testim.io said it is aiming to help engineering teams make application testing autonomous and integrative to their agile development cycle. "Organizations are forced to trade off between quality and time to market. We're here to change that," said CEO Oren Rubin. "By making all software testing autonomous, our customers will benefit from delivering better digital experiences through impeccable quality while releasing multiple times a day." Testim's self-learning tests adapt to code changes, eliminating a big portion of maintenance overhead so clients can spent more time developing new capabilities instead of testing. Customers include Wix.com, NetApp and Walmart.
