The Internet audience measurement firm said that e-commerce spending on Nov. 23 reached $1.042 billion, a 26% jump from Black Friday in 2011. And while traditionally a lighter day for online holiday spending, Thanksgiving Day saw a 32% increase to $633 million. "Despite the frenzy of media coverage surrounding the importance of Black Friday in the brick-and-mortar world, we continue to see this shopping day become more and more prominent in the e-commerce channel -- particularly among those who prefer to avoid crowds at the stores," said Gian Fulgoni, the chairman of comScore. "Meanwhile, Thanksgiving Day… continues to gain steam and grew well ahead of the current pace as more consumers opted to kick off their holiday shopping immediately after the big meal to take advantage of aggressive retailer promotions." http://ir.comscore.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=723001 _____________________________________________ o Mountain View-Based Edison Pharmaceuticals Lands $20 Million Mountain View, Calif. -- Edison Pharmaceuticals, a Mountain View-based specialty pharmaceutical firm developing treatments for children with orphan mitochondrial diseases, said on Monday it has secured $20 million in its sixth round of funding.
