Mountain View, Calif. -- Maginatics, the Mountain View-based developer of a distributed enterprise storage platform, said on Tuesday it has raised $17 million in its second round of funding, led by Intel Capital. WestSummit Capital, Comcast Ventures and previous backers Atlantic Bridge and VMware also participated in the round, which the company will use to bolster its sales, marketing and support activities. Maginatics, which emerged from stealth mode last year, is the maker of MagFS, a platform that offers Network Attached Storage (NAS)-like capabilities where NAS is not an option. The company also has named Dharmesh Thakker of Intel Capital and Raymond Yang of WestSummit Capital to its board of directors.

Mountain View, Calif. -- Collegefeed, the Mountain View-based developer of an online platform designed to help students and recent graduates land their dream jobs, said on Tuesday it has raised $1.8 million in a round of seed funding, led by Accel Partners. Mark Stevens of S-Cubed Capital and several Silicon Valley angels also participated. Collegefeed's platform analyzes a job-seeker's resume, interests and skills, then automatically matches them to employers in their system. Employers, conversely, use the platform to brand themselves more effectively to students and find candidates for entry-level positions. said Sanjeev Agrawal, the co-founder and CEO of Collegefeed, said the new funding will let the company "offer our users and employers many exciting new features and functionality in the coming months."

Mountain View, Calif. -- Internet giant Google on Tuesday named its 2013 eCities, which are designed to recognize the strongest online business community in each state. The Mountain View-based company teamed with independent research firm Ipsos to determine the winners, considering factors such as the likelihood of small businesses to have a website, use a blog, promote themselves on a social network, sell goods directly from their webpages and establish a mobile-friendly website. o Survey: Mobile App Buyers Most Concerned About Bugs and Crashes

Mountain View, Calif. -- Seventy-seven percent of consumers who have purchased mobile apps have concerns that potentially would prevent them from buying an app, according to a new survey commissioned by Mountain View-based Soasta. Chief among the concerns of the more than 3,000 American adults surveyed are bugs (58%), crashes (57%), performance (48%), speed (32%) and apps that don't respond to gestures or swipes (30%). Men were more likely than women and younger adults more likely than older adults to express apprehensions when purchasing a mobile app.
