San Francisco -- Francisco Partners, the San Francisco-based private equity firm, said on Wednesday it will make a majority investment in Atlanta-based Paymetric, a developer of electronic payment technologies. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Paymetric said the new investment will allow it to accelerate product development and expand into new global markets. Founded in 1998 by two former SAP employees, the company focuses on electronic payment processing for ERP systems. It currently boast more than 440 clients.

o Trio of Bay Area Firms Take Part in $12.1M Round for Belly

Chevy Chase, Md. -- A trio of Bay Area investors, Menlo Park-based Andreessen Horowitz, Palo Alto-based DAG Ventures and San Jose-based Cisco Systems, have taken part in a new $12.1 million funding round for Chicago-based Belly, developer of a customer loyalty and marketing platform for retailers. New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Lightbank and 7-Ventures also participated. Belly's platform, which includes an in-store tablet, is designed to help businesses drive customers back more often, establish social connections with them, facilitate online customer reviews, target new customer audiences and gain data and analytics on customer behavior. The company, which is working with more than 50 national chains, including 7-Eleven, now has raised $28 million since its inception.

o San Jose-Based Flextronics to Acquire Switzerland's RIWISA

San Jose, Calif. -- Looking to expand its medical capabilities, San Jose-based supply chain technology firm Flextronics said on Wednesday it will acquire Switzerland-based RIWISA, a developer of precision injection molding and high-speed automation tools. Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close by the end of October, were not disclosed. With the acquisition, Flextronics Medical plans to create a European Center of Excellence for precision plastics in Switzerland. "[It] is a tremendous complement to the broad range of healthcare solutions we can offer our customers globally and underscores the strategic commitment we have made to expand our services in this market," said Mark Kemp, the president of Flextronics Medical.

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Foundation Capital, a Menlo Park-based venture capital firm, has named former Comcast Ventures investor Aditya Singh as a partner. In his new role, Singh will focus on identifying and investing in startups specializing in enterprise IT infrastructure, systems, software and services. During his time at Comcast Ventures, Singh focused on companies in the cloud computing, data center, networking, management, security and virtualization sectors, including Nebula, Tely Labs and Maginatics. Earlier, he co-founded networking appliance startup Bitsplay Systems, and was an entrepreneur in residence at Foundation.

o Calif. Battery Case Maker Sues LivingSocial for Allegedly Selling Knockoffs

Tustin, Calif. -- A maker of portable batteries for smartphones, said it has filed suit against daily deals giant LivingSocial for allegedly selling knock-off products. Tustin-based mophie, best known for its "juice pack" portable battery cases for iPhones, is alleging trademark infringement, copyright infringement and unfair competition, among other claims. The suit, which also names supplier Source Vista, seeks an unspecified amount of damages and an injunction against further sales. "The sale of imitation products by LivingSocial and Source Vista are an affront to us and an insult to our valued customers," said Daniel Huang, CEO of mophie.
