o Pinxter Launches Social Fashion App for iPhone

Alexandria, Va. -- Mobile fashion startup Pinxter said it has released its inaugural iPhone app, which is designed to give users instant community feedback on fashion decisions. The free app lets users upload photos, then receive "yes" or "no" votes from community members to guide them on purchasing decisions or what to wear for a particular occasion. "By socializing fashion decisions, it takes the frustration out of choosing which skirt to buy or outfit to wear, making it a fun, interactive experience," said CEO Sergei Dubograev. The app also lets users pay to promote their photos, and theoretically receive more votes faster. Users also can socially endorse their favorite brands, designers and stylists. Co-founder Dmitry Semiryazhko previously launched two popular apps in the European market, including Greeting Cards on the Wall and Guess the Melody. Collectively, the apps were downloaded by more than 21 million users. Pinxter is backed by an investor group led by Cal Simmons, head of the Washington, DC chapter of Tiger 21, a club for angel investors, as well as Mary Naylor, the CEO of Aspire Lifestyles; Sally Hurley, the president of Aspire Lifestyles; Brad Nierenberg, the CEO of RedPeg Marketing; Andrea Keating, the CEO of Crews Control; and Mark Teitelbaum, an angel investor and vice president of CBRE.
