Twitch, which now claims more than 45 million unique visitors a month, said it will use the latest funds to continue scaling its sales division and infrastructure. Case, the co-founder of AOL, along with Tige Savage and David Golden, will lead the fund, which is believed to be the largest first-time venture fund launched outside of Silicon Valley since the 2008 financial crisis. Washington Capitals and Wizards majority owner Ted Leonsis also is an investor in the fund, which Revolution raised in just eight months. The fund, which will make roughly 20 investments over a three to four year period, will be based in Washington, DC, but will also maintain a West Coast office in San Francisco. "While we're big fans of Silicon Valley, we've long believed that a lot of great entrepreneurs and great young companies can also be found outside of Silicon Valley," said Case. Azure International, Lakewest and several angel investors also took part in the round, which the company will use to accelerate the rollout of its technology.
