o San Jose-Based Wrike Raises $10 Million in First Round

San Jose, Calif. -- Wrike, a San Jose-based developer of project management and collaboration software, said on Tuesday it has raised $10 million in its first round of funding from Bain Capital Ventures. The company, which previously had been self-funded, currently provides the premium version of its product to more than 4,000 customers. "We deliberately pursued a lean and pragmatic growth strategy to build the best product in the space, one that people would love and use every day," said Andrew Filev, the company's founder and CEO. As part of the investment, Todd MacLean, managing director of Bain Capital Ventures, and Tim Maly, a senior vice president at SurveyMonkey, have joined Wrike's board of directors.

o Palo Alto-Based CPI Acquires Radant Technologies Inc.

Palo Alto, Calif. -- Communications & Power Industries (CPI), a Palo Alto-based developer of microwave, radio frequency, power and control products, said on Tuesday it has acquired Massachusetts-based Radant Technologies Inc. (RTI), a maker of advanced composite radomes, reflector antennas and structures for defense, aerospace and naval clients. A radome is a weatherproof structure that encloses and protects a microwave antenna. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. CPI will operate RTI, which has approximately 180 employees, as an independent division based in Stow, Mass. Co-founder Jean-Claude Sureau, who has been serving as RTI's president and CEO, will continue to lead the organization. Joe Caldarelli, the CEO of CPI, said his company now can "offer an even broader portfolio of RF products to customers who are already working with CPI to support their defense and communications systems."

After eight on-stage presentations, the judges selected San Francisco-based Amplify Health as the winner of the enterprise solutions category and New York-based Kinsa as the winner of the consumer solutions category. o Menlo Park-Based Foundation Capital Names Mitali Pattnaik as EIR

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Foundation Capital, the Menlo Park-based venture capital firm, on Tuesday named Mitali Pattnaik, a former product and marketing lead at Twitter and Google, as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR). Pattnaik will focus on building a new consumer-focused company, exploring areas such as education, mobile and collaborative consumption. Pattnaik most recently was a lead on the revenue product team at Twitter, managing several of the social media giant's ad products. Earlier, she was a consumer products lead for Google, where she built Google Offers and scaled it for 10 cities. It marks the fourth high-profile addition to Foundation's team this year, following the hiring of partners Anamitra Banerji, Adit Singh and Jonathan Ehrlich.

Fremont, Calif. -- Mounza, a Fremont-based startup, said on Tuesday it has launched iPhone and Android career networking apps designed to help students discover on-campus recruiting opportunities. The company said it consolidates information about career events on or near campus, such as career fairs, information sessions, workshops, professor talks, entrepreneurship panels and hackathons.
