o San Francisco-Based Minted Raises $41 Million in Third Round

San Francisco -- Minted, the San Francisco-based developer of an online marketplace for independent design and art, said on Wednesday it has raised $41 million in its third round of funding, led by Technology Crossover Ventures. Allen & Company and previous backer Benchmark Capital also participated, as did Kevin and Julia Hartz, the co-founders of Eventbrite. Minted is an online marketplace that crowd-sources and sells graphic design and art products from thousands of independent designers. The company said it will use the funding to expand its core stationary business and move its model into new categories, including a wall art and party decor businesses. Minted, which previously had raised $11 million, said it was cash-flow positive last year.

o San Francisco's MapBox Raises $10 Million from Foundry Group

San Francisco -- MapBox, developer of a platform that lets users create interactive maps and integrate them into their apps, with dual headquarters in San Francisco and Washington, DC, said on Wednesday it has raised $10 million in its first round of funding from Foundry Group. It marks the company's first outside funding following three years of boot-strapping. "This round is squarely focused on bringing more amazing people to our team in both San Francisco and Washington, DC," wrote CEO Eric Gundersen in a blog post. "Combined with a rapidly growing userbase, funding lets us plan for years of building the future of geo software, from the ground up." MapBox currently powers maps for companies such as foursquare, Uber, Evernote and Hipmunk.

o Survey: Telework Now Offered by 88% of Employers

Washington, DC -- Despite reports of companies like Yahoo, Best Buy and HP recently reigning in their telework programs, telework -- the practice of letting employees work from home or remote offices -- is now offered in some form by 88% of employers, according to a new study by global human resources association WorldatWork. "The data from this report shows that only 3% of companies have actually canceled telework programs over the past two years," said Rose Stanley, WorldatWork's practice leader for benefits, work-life, flexibility and recognition. The majority of respondents said the practice has a positive effect on employee engagement, motivation and satisfaction, though to a somewhat lesser degree since measured in 2010.
