San Jose, Calif. -- Nimble Storage, the San Jose-based developer of a flash-optimized hybrid storage platform, on Friday filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to raise up to $150 million in its initial public offering (IPO). The company has yet to disclose specific details of the offering, such as the number of shares to be sold or their expected price range. It plans to list shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "NMBL." Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Morgan Stanley will serve as lead underwriters.

o Western Digital Completes $685M Deal for Milpitas-Based Virident

Milpitas, Calif. -- Western Digital said it has completed its $685 million acquisition of Milpitas-based Virident, a developer of flash-based storage devices. The deal was first announced in September. Virident will be integrated into HGST, a unit of Western Digital that maintains its U.S. headquarters in San Jose. "Our datacenter customers will be able to share SSD storage capacity across applications and servers, for greater efficiency, agility and scale," said Mike Cordano, the president of HGST. Virident CEO Mike Gustafson will join HGST as a senior vice president leading the Virident team. The deal follows HGST's recent purchases of sTec, a developer of enterprise solid-state drives (SSDs) and VeloBit, a maker of I/O optimization software.

Redwood Shores, Calif. -- Oracle, the Redwood Shores-based back-office software giant, said it has acquired Indianapolis-based Compendium, a developer of a cloud-based content marketing platform designed to help clients plan and deliver content across multiple channels. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Compendium's technology is designed to align relevant content with customer data and profiles to help companies more effectively attract prospects and engage buyers. Oracle said Compendium's technology will compliment its own Eloqua Marketing Cloud.
