Rizvi Traverse Management, which led the initial tranche, also reportedly will lead the latest tranche, which when finalized will raise the 3-year-old company's total backing to $160 million. Under the deal, first announced last month, Microsemi paid $7.18 a share through a cash tender offer. Symmetricom's technology provides timekeeping in GPS satellites, national time references and national power grids as well as in critical military and civilian networks. Possible buyers reportedly include Verizon Communications, Samsung Electronics and Liberty Global. The FDA said the company has been marketing the tests without clearance or approval, in violation of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. "Some of the uses for which PGS [Personal Genome Service] is intended are particularly concerning… because of the potential health consequences that could result from false positive or false negative assessments for high-risk indications such as these," the agency wrote in its letter.
