Los Altos, Calif. -- Box, the Los Altos-based maker of content collaboration software, has raised $112 million in a new funding round that values the company at nearly $2 billion, Forbes reported. The publication said the round is likely the precursor to the company's expected initial public offering (IPO) early next year. In a blog post, co-founder and CEO Aaron Levie said the funding "will help move Box into the next phase of our international expansion." He said Itochu Technology Ventures, Macnica and Mitsui took part in the round, with an eye on introducing the company's technology in Japan. Box also is working with Europe's Telefónica Digital and Australia's Telstra. DST Global and Coatue participated, as well.
