Google plans to make a decision about which cities will actually get the newtworks by the end of the year. "We've invited cities in nine metro areas around the U.S. -- 34 cities altogether -- to work with us to explore what it would take to bring them Google Fiber," wrote Milo Medin, Google's vice president of access services, in a blog post. The company already has completed three Google Fiber networks, which boast speeds 100 times faster than basic broadband. https://fiber.google.com/newcities/ http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2014/02/exploring-new-cities-for-google-fiber.html _____________________________________________ o San Mateo-Based BeyondCore Raises $9 Million in First Round San Mateo, Calif. -- BeyondCore, a San Mateo-based developer of automated analytics software, said on Wednesday it has raised $9 million in its first round of funding, led by Menlo Ventures.
