Oracle, which is looking to boost sluggish sales, will pay $68 a share under the deal, its largest acquisition since buying Sun Microsystems in 2010. It is expected to close by year's end. "Micros' management and employees will form a dedicated business within Oracle to maintain their focus on serving customers," said Bob Weiler, the executive vice president of Oracle global business units. Oracle said the acquisition will expand its offerings to hotels, food and beverage facilities and retailers. Tanium said it will use the funding to support continued product developer and company expansion. The company's platform is designed to let users quickly detect and mitigate damages from outages and cyber-attacks, then distribute and install updates and shut down processes. Angel investors Guy King and Bevan Clark also participated in the round, which follows a recent $1.3 million Kickstarter campaign. Omar Hamoui, a partner at Sequoia, has joined the company's board of directors. LIFX said it will use the capital to bolster its engineering, sales and marketing teams.
