Previous backers Andreessen Horowitz, Baseline Ventures and Harrison Metal also participated in the round, which the company plans to use to bolster product development and push forward with an aggressive hiring campaign. Trevor Oelschig, a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, will join the company's board of directors. PagerDuty's platform aims to help operations engineers and developers more effectively manage and resolve incidents across a company's global operations. "We started PagerDuty by solving the hair-on-fire problem of on-call incident response and expanded to address the entire incident lifecycle, in order to create visibility across a company's entire operations," said cofounder and CEO Alex Solomon. The company priced 4 million shares at $17 each, but its stock -- now trading on the NASDAQ Global Market under the symbol "AAVL" -- soared to $27.99 by day's end. (EDI), a San Jose-based developer of hybrid and electric drivetrain technology, said on Thursday it has raised $3.5 million in its first round of funding. Jinyuan Development led the round, which also included participation by Silicon Valley China Venture Partners and the Shanghai Gui Guo Assets Management Partnership. Citing a person with knowledge of the situation, the news service said that those affected have been offered only temporary contracts, with no long-term job security. "We're excited to have the Beats team join Apple, and we have extended job offers to every Beats employee," Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr said in a statement.
