Several technology and private equity executives also took part in the round, which increases the company's total backing to more than $7 million since its founding in 2013. "Furniture is a typical household's third largest investment but it's ridiculously hard to sell," said co-founder and Chairman Gregg Brockway. "A vertical, curated marketplace built around a great mobile experience makes it dramatically simpler to buy and sell home decor." Chairish offers pre-owned items for sale on consignment and shares up to 80% of the proceeds with the consignor. As of July, the company counted 120,000 monthly customers, adding more than 1,000 items a week for sale to its curated marketplace. http://shop.chairish.com/ http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/chairish-receives-4-million-series-a-investment-270759121.html _____________________________________________ o Mountain View-Based Quettra Launches with $2.9 Million in Seed Funding Mountain View, Calif. -- Quettra, a Mountain View-based developer of tools designed to help mobile marketers reach the right audience at the right time, said it has emerged from stealth with $2.9 million in new seed funding. The survey analyzed the valuations and terms of venture financings for 174 companies headquartered in the Silicon Valley. During the quarter, up rounds -- in which a company's price per share increased since its previous funding round -- exceeded down rounds 80% to 6%, with 14% flat. That marked the largest difference between up rounds and down rounds since the firm began the survey in 2002. The average share price increase was 113% -- the largest increase since the firm began tracking that stat in 2004. "At the big picture level, it was a very strong quarter for the venture environment, with venture investment hitting the highest level since the first quarter of 2001, and IPOs and venture fundraising on track for the best years since 2000," said Michael Patrick, a partner in the corporate group of Fenwick & West and co-author of the survey. "That said, these amounts are substantially below the dot-com bubble years, and it seems like it is a more select group of companies that are receiving the high valuations and capital infusions that we are currently seeing." http://www.fenwick.com/vcsurvey _____________________________________________ |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| Mid-Atlantic Marketing Summit Baltimore - Sept. 19, 2014 Leading marketers, technologists and agency professionals from throughout the region come together at this annual event to discuss major marketing, social, digital and advertising trends, along with dozens of case studies, presentations and keynotes.
