SmartThings will continue to operate independently under founder and CEO Alex Hawkinson, but will move its headquarters to Palo Alto, becoming part of the Samsung Open Innovation Center (OIC), responsible for the company's software and services. Founded in 2012, SmartThings is the developer of a platform designed to let users monitor, control and automate their homes through a mobile app. The platform currently supports more than 1,000 devices and 8,000 apps. "Connected devices have long been strategically important to Samsung," said David Eun, the head of Samsung's OIC. "We are committed to maintaining SmartThings’ open platform, fostering more explosive growth, and becoming its newest strategic partner." The company lost its contract in 2010 for what the U.K. government called "default." The tribunal also found that the U.K. had wrongfully retained the $83 million it had drawn on Raytheon's letters of credit in 2011. The eBorders program is designed to collect and store information on all passengers entering and leaving the U.K. "Raytheon remains committed to partnering with the U.K. Government on key defense, national security and commercial pursuits," the company said in a statement. http://www.raytheon.com http://investor.raytheon.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=84193&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1959065&highlight= _____________________________________________ |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| Mid-Atlantic Marketing Summit Baltimore - Sept. 19, 2014 Leading marketers, technologists and agency professionals from throughout the region come together at this annual event to discuss major marketing, social, digital and advertising trends, along with dozens of case studies, presentations and keynotes.
