o Accuris Networks Raises $15 Million, Opens U.S. HQ and Names CEO

San Mateo, Calif. -- Accuris Networks, an Irish developer of cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity tools, said on Wednesday it has raised $15 million in a new round of funding, and announced the establishment of new U.S. headquarters in San Mateo. Investors included Ulster Bank Diageo Venture Fund and the China Ireland Growth Technology Fund. In addition, the company named Jeff Brown as its new CEO, working out of the Palo Alto office. Brown was previously the president and CEO of mobile technology company Kineto Wireless. Accuris currently boasts several U.S. customers, including AT&T, Bell Mobility, Telus, GoGo, Cisco, HP and Alcatel-Lucent. "We've barely scratched the surface of the opportunities here so far," said Brown. 

o San Francisco-Based Fuel Secures $3.5 Million in Funding

San Francisco -- Fuel, the San Francisco-based developer of a platform used to create connected experiences on mobile games, said it has raised $3.5 million in a new round of funding, from Middle East Venture Partners and Rising Tide Fund. The company, formerly known as Grantoo, also announced several key hires, including Shrikant Latkar (chief revenue officer), Jeremy Nusser (senior vice president of business development) and Mike Upton (executive producer). Fuel's platform allows publishers to create competition among game players by offering a simple way to launch multiplayer challenges and host live events and tournaments. 

o San Francisco-Based PowWow Raises $2.5 Million in First Round

San Francisco -- PowWow, the San Francisco-based developer of an application delivery platform that transfers a company's enterprise apps to mobile devices, said on Wednesday it has raised $2.5 million in its first round of funding. Investors included OurCrowd, Vertical Venture Partners, IT-Farm, Julien Nguyen, Prabhu Goel and Kumar Malavalli. The company said it will use the proceeds to bolster its go-to-market activities and expand its engineering teams. Available for the iPhone and iPad, PowWow's platform moves any Windows or web application to any mobile device in minutes. "This funding not only enables us to take PowWow to market, but it also allows us to expand operational capabilities to support our fast growing customer base," said co-founder and CEO Andrew Cohen. 

o S.F.-Based Lands $2.3 Million in Funding

San Francisco --, the San Francisco-based developer of a mobile customer feedback app, said on Wednesday it has raised $2.3 million to bolster its product development, sales and marketing efforts. Salesforce Ventures led the round for the company, which was founded last year by former executives Kraig Swensrud and Sean Whiteley. The company will use the proceeds to bolster its online survey software and expand its sales and marketing division. Clients include Facebook, Fox Sports, ESPN, Hurley, The North Face, Twitter and The World Economic Forum. 

o San Francisco-Based ClearSide Acquires "Seed Mail" App

San Francisco -- ClearSlide, the San Francisco-based developer of a sales engagement platform, said on Wednesday it has acquired mobile email app Seed Mail from China-based Mangrove Technologies. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. With the acquisition, the company said it has launched ClearSlide Mail, which it said will allow sales people to "be more responsive on their mobile devices." The ClearSlide Mail app is available for free in the Apple App Store.

(San Francisco) San Francisco-based Doximity, developer of an online physician network, on Wednesday named Emily Peters as its vice president of marketing communications and Peter Alperin as its vice president of connectivity solutions. Peters is the former vice president of marketing communications at Practice Fusion, and Alperin is the former vice president of medicine and product at Archimedes. 

(Palo Alto, Calif.) Nordic Innovation House, a co-working space, incubator and resource center for Nordic tech companies, officially opened its doors Wednesday in Palo Alto. The new initiative is funded by an alliance of Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Icelandic and Danish governments, as well as Nordic Innovation, an institution that works to promote cross-border trade and innovation. 

(Sunnyvale, Calif.) Sunnyvale-based Sideband Networks, a developer of network performance management tools, has named Stephen Pieraldi as its vice president of engineering. Pieraldi currently serves as a technical advisor at Total Phase and is an industry fellow at UC Berkeley. He also is a serial entrepreneur whose previous companies include Guessn, 2BClear and IForem.
