o Cupertino-Based Numerify Raises $15 Million in Second Round

Cupertino, Calif. -- Numerify, a Cupertino-based developer of IT business analytics applications, said it has raised $15 million in its second round of funding, led by Sequoia Capital. Previous backer Lightspeed Venture Partners also participated in the round, which increased the company's total funding to more than $23 million since its inception. Doug Leone, a partner at Sequoia Capital, will join the company's board of directors. Following its product launch in April, Numerify now counts Netflix, the University of San Francisco, Incomm and Spansion among its clients.

o San Francisco-Based Taulia Adds $13 Million to Fourth Round

San Francisco -- Just two months after announcing a large, new round of funding, San Francisco-based Taulia, a developer of web-based software designed to help clients optimize their financial supply chain and payment terms with suppliers, said on Thursday it has added another $13 million to cap its fourth round at $40 million. New international investors included BBVA Ventures, the corporate venture arm of Spain's BBVA Group, and EDBI, the investment arm of Singapore's Economic Development Board. QuestMark Partners led the initial $27 million tranche, announced in July. The company now has raised $70 million since its inception in 2009. Taulia provides supplier financing through cloud-based invoice, payment and dynamic discounting tools. Clients include Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, Pfizer, Pacific Gas & Electric and Hallmark.

o Pleasanton-Based Blackhawk Network to Acquire Parago

Pleasanton, Calif. -- Blackhawk Network, the Pleasanton-based developer of a prepaid and payments network, said on Thursday it will pay $290 million in cash to acquire Dallas-based Parago, a developer of technology that delivers rewards through consumer, sales channel and employee programs. The deal is expected to close by the end of October. "Adding Parago into our portfolio is a significant step forward for Blackhawk's expansion plans in the large but fragmented incentives market," said Blackhawk CEO Bill Tauscher. Parago will operate as a unit of Blackhawk and remain headquartered in Dallas. Juli Spottiswood of Parago will lead Blackhawk's incentive business.

o San Francisco-Based Tradeshift Announces Major European Expansion

San Francisco -- Seven months after landing $75 million in funding, San Francisco-based Tradeshift, developer of a business transaction and collaboration platform, said on Thursday it has opened new offices in France, Germany and Japan, and named Charles Royon as its vice president of EMEA. The company also announced Fred Macaraeg as its managing director in Japan and Aki Okubo as the president of Tradeshift Japan. The company announced its presence in China earlier this year. Tradeshift, which connects more than 500,000 companies with their supply chains to facilitate business transactions, in February landed $75 million in its third round of funding from Singapore’s Scentan Ventures.

o Axon Dx Lands Investment from Menlo Park-Based SRI International

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Axon Dx, a unit of Virginia-based Axon Connected developing a scanning instrument for minimally invasive cancer and rare cell detection, said it has landed a new investment from Menlo Park-based nonprofit research institute SRI International. Financial terms of the deal, which also includes a non-exclusive license to certain SRI patents related to cancer diagnostics, were not disclosed. Kent Murphy, the president and CEO of Axon Dx, said the deal was born out of a collaboration between the two companies that began in 2012.
