o San Francisco-Based Incoming Media Raises $4.9 Million in First Round

San Francisco -- Incoming Media, the San Francisco-based developer of a mobile video engagement platform, said on Tuesday it has raised $4.9 million in its first round of funding, co-led by OneVentures and Intel Capital. The company will use the proceeds to bolster its research and development activities and expand into new geographic and vertical markets. Incoming Media uses predictive data analytics and intelligent push technology to predict consumers' video preferences and pre-load content onto their devices during the most cost-effective hours. "Mobile is the future of video, but the viewing experience is broken," said CEO Adam Tom. "Acting like a DVR for on-demand content on your mobile devices, Incoming Media solves this problem by intelligently pre-positioning video content onto mobile devices ahead of time, in the background, and at the lowest-cost times before a viewer wants to watch it."

o Study: Almost 1 in 3 Teenagers has Online Regrets by Age 16

San Francisco -- Nearly one in three teenagers has online regrets by the age of 16, according to a new study by Internet security firm AVG Technologies. All told, 28% of teenagers surveyed said they regret posting something online, while 32% had to ask someone to remove content posted about them because either they didn't like it or thought it was too personal. And although 70% have changed their settings on Facebook to make it more difficult for people to find them and 71% say they understand what online privacy means, only 29% say they properly "know" all of their Facebook friends. "Everyone assumes that just because today's teenagers grew up with laptops and smartphones, they somehow have an innate understanding of how to keep themselves safe online and how to behave," said Tony Anscombe, senior security evangelist at AVG. "The reality is that we have all -- teenagers included -- embraced technology without much question and the result has been the steady erosion of our online privacy."
