o "Green Monday" Online Sales Surge 15% from a Year Ago

Reston, Va. -- Americans spent $1.6 billion online on Green Monday (Dec. 8), making it the third heaviest online spending day of this holiday season, according to new figures from comScore. The day trailed only Cyber Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 2, with e-commerce sales up 15% from the same day in 2013. For the holiday season-to-date, $35.4 billion has been spent online, up 15% from a year ago. "Though much has been made in the media of the possibility that early retailer promotions might have pulled spending away from the key shopping days such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, our data show that this did not occur," said Gian Fulgoni, the chairman emeritus of comScore.
