o Fremont-Based Quantenna Communications Raises $22M in New Round
Fremont, Calif. -- Quantenna Communications, a Fremont-based developer of high performance Wi-Fi semiconductor and system software, said on Wednesday it has raised $22 million in a new round of funding. Participants included new investors Centerview Capital Technology, Vivint and NTT Group, as well as previous backers Sequoia Capital, DAG Ventures, Rusnano, Sigma Partners and Venrock. Ned Hooper, a founding partner of Centerview Capital, and Harold Hughes, the former CEO of Rambus and CFO of Intel, have joined the company's board of directors. Quantenna has shipped tens of millions of its Wi-Fi chipsets to telecom, cable and satellite service providers, including AT&T, DirecTV, Orange and Telefonica. The company said it will use the funds to bolster its investment in technology and customer success.

o Teradata Acquires San Francisco-Based RainStor
San Francisco -- Teradata, a San Diego-based developer of big data analytics and marketing applications, said on Wednesday it has acquired San Francisco-based RainStor, a developer of database software used to manage massive amounts of data. Financial terms of the deal, which includes RainStor's assets, intellectual property and the majority of its employees, were not disclosed. Teradata said the acquisition will bolster its enterprise-grade Hadoop products for online big data archiving. It marks Teradata's fourth big data-related acquisition this year; following deals for Revelytix, Hadapt and Think Big Analytics.

o Tipalti Relocates Headquarters to Palo Alto, Hires Rob Israch as CMO
Palo Alto, Calif. -- A month after announcing $13 million in new funding, Tipalti, developer of a payments management automation platform, said on Wednesday it has relocated its headquarters from Agoura Hills to Palo Alto, more than quadrupling its office space. The company said the new office puts it in closer proximity to many of its clients, as well as potential future employees, with expected staff growth on the horizon. The company plans to keep a regional office in Agoura Hills, with its R&D and product management functions continuing to operate out of Israel. Tipalti also has named Rob Israch as its new CMO, leading the company's marketing efforts. Israch most recently served as the vice president of global marketing programs at NetSuite. Tipalti currently serves more than 250,000 payees globally and processes over $1 billion annually. Customers include Chartboost, TouchofModern, PulsePoint, Disqus, Matomy, A4D, MUNDOmedia, Perion Codefuel, ClickDealer, Infolinks and Tapjoy.

o Online Giving Blitz Expected in Final Three Days of the Year
Washington, DC -- An online giving blitz is expected during the final days of December, as Americans rush to beat the deadline for 2014 tax deductions, according to Network for Good. The online charitable giving organization said that 10% of annual online donations occur during the final three days of the year (Dec. 29-31). "Each December we see a dramatic spike in online donations, especially Dec. 29 through 31, as donors are in a generous mood and are motivated by the end-of-year deadline for tax-deductible gifts," said Caryn Stein, the vice president of communications at Network for Good. Network for Good has processed more than $1 billion in donations since its 2001 founding by AOL, Cisco and Yahoo.
