San Francisco -- ThousandEyes, a San Francisco-based developer of network performance management tools, said on Tuesday it has raised $20 million in its second round of funding, led by Sutter Hill Ventures. Salesforce Ventures, previous backer Sequoia Capital and angels also took part in the round, which the company will use to accelerate product development, expand its presence in North America and Europe and launch a free version of the ThousandEyes product. ThousandEyes, which emerged from stealth in 2013, has developed a platform designed to help users monitor, troubleshoot and analyze the delivery of any application or service. Clients include Equinix, Flextronics, ServiceNow, Twitter and eBay. Stefan Dyckerhoff, managing director at Sutter Hill Ventures, has joined the company's board.

San Francisco -- Nginx, a San Francisco-based developer of technology designed to boost the performance of web applications, said on Tuesday it has raised $20 million in a new round of funding, led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA). e.ventures, Runa Capital, Index Ventures and CEO Gus Robertson also took part in the round, which the company will use to fuel product development, bolster marketing and expand geographically outside the U.S. Nginx's platform is used by companies such as Netflix, Pinterest, Airbnb, Box, Instagram, SoundCloud and Zappos to boost the performance of their web applications.

o San Francisco-Based Insikt Raises $16 Million in Second Round

San Francisco -- Insikt, the San Francisco-based developer of a platform that lets any brand lend to its customers and any accredited investor invest in consumer loan portfolios, said on Tuesday it has raised $16 million in its second round of funding, led by Revolution Ventures. Previous backers Firstmark Capital and Serengeti Asset Management, as well as new investors Jefferies and Atalaya Capital Management also participated in the round, which increased the company's total funding to more than $100 million since its inception in 2012. Founded by Progreso Financiero founder James Gutierrez, Insikt is the developer of Lendify, a cloud-based tool that lets any retail store, online brand or bank make loans or provide purchase financing to its customers under its own brand name. "The traditional banking system, since 2008, has seen massive drops in credit availability," said Gutierrez. "We are working to fill that void."

o S.F.-Based Hired Lands $15 Million, Launches Sales Marketplace

San Francisco -- Hired, the San Francisco-based operator of a curated career marketplace for the technology industry, said on Tuesday it has landed $15 million in its second round of funding, increasing its total backing to $32.7 million. New investors Silicon Valley Bank, Comcast Ventures and Lumia Capital joined previous backers Crosslink Capital, Sierra Ventures, SoftTech and SherpaVentures in the round. The company said it will use the proceeds to expand into new verticals and geographic markets. After expanded its marketplace from San Francisco to New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston and London this year, the company said it plans to expand to a new city every six weeks in 2015. Hired also said it has launched a new marketplace strictly for sales professionals, initially available in San Francisco.

San Mateo, Calif. -- Remotium, a San Mateo-based developer of mobile virtualization technology, on Tuesday named Stephanie Fohn as its new president and CEO. Hayward, Calif. -- Seeo, a Hayward-based maker of advanced lithium polymer batteries, said on Tuesday it has closed its "largest funding round to date." Financial terms were not disclosed. Samsung Ventures joined previous backers Khosla Ventures and GSR Ventures in the round, which the company will use to accelerate the commercialization of its ultra-high energy density batteries, which are used in electric vehicles. Currently, Seeo has cells cycling with an energy density of 350 Wh/kg, with a future target of 400 Wh/kg, roughly twice the level of batteries used in today's electric vehicles. The company's technology was originally developed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, with sponsorship from the Department of Energy.
