Panaya is officially based in New Jersey, but has executive offices in Menlo Park. The deal is expected to close by the end of March. o WSJ: Cupertino-Based Apple Developing Electric Vehicle

Cupertino, Calif. -- Possibly gearing up to challenge Tesla in the market for electric vehicles, Cupertino-based Apple is secretly working to develop its own branded electric car, a minivan-like vehicle code named "Titan," The Wall Street Journal reported. Tim Cook, the company's CEO, reportedly green-lighted the project nearly a year ago, putting Steve Zadesky, a vice president who formerly served as an engineer at Ford, in charge. The Journal reported that Zadesky was given permission to create a 1,000-person team comprised of employees from different parts of the company. The team is currently working from a private location a few miles from Apple's corporate headquarters, the report said.

o Study: Bay Area Boasts Three of Top Five Cities for STEM Pay

Bethesda, Md. -- The Bay Area boast three of the nation's top five cities for average pay in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields, according to a new study by SmartAsset. San Francisco ranks second ($100,324), Oakland fourth ($95,032) and San Jose fifth $94,609) on the list, which is topped by the area comprising Bethesda, Rockville and Frederick, Md. -- the home of large STEM employers such as the National Institute of Health and Lockheed Martin. In fact, each of the top five cities is located either in California's Bay Area or the greater DC area. "Both of these regions benefit from a clustering effect for STEM jobs," wrote the study's authors. The complete study is available at the link below.
