o Reports: Uber Raising Another $1 Billion for Foreign Expansion

San Francisco -- Buoyed by overwhelming demand from investors, San Francisco-based on-demand car service Uber Technologies plans to expand its latest funding round by another $1 billion, the company disclosed Wednesday in a filing with the Delaware Secretary of State. The round, first announced in December, now is expected to close at $2.8 billion, allowing Uber to continue its overseas push, according to published reports. The company reportedly plans to expand into several more foreign cities, as well as to bolster research and development. Uber, which was valued at roughly $41 billion at the time of December's funding, already operates in nearly 300 worldwide markets. In January, it also raised $1.6 billion in convertible debt from wealth management clients of Goldman Sachs Group.

o Survey: IT Leaders Feel Ill-Equipped to Handle Cyber Threats

Bethesda, Md. -- The majority of information technology leaders feel ill-equipped to combat escalating cyber threats, according to a new survey commissioned by Lockheed Martin. According to the poll of 678 senior IT practitioners, a majority of respondents noted an increase in the severity (75%) and frequency (68%) of cyber attacks, but feared they don't have the budget (64%) or the expert personnel (65%) to address the threats. Among the other findings, respondents who felt they were not presently being targeted for attack relied on their intuition (35%) or logical deduction (33%) rather than data or intelligence (32%) to justify those beliefs.
