o CMEA Capital Changes Name to Presidio Partners, Closes New Fund

San Francisco -- CMEA Capital, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm, said on Tuesday it has changed its name to Presidio Partners and announced the closing of a new $142 million fund. The firm also said it has promoted Peter Gajdos to managing director and hired Lee Pantuso as its CFO. The fund, Presidio Partners 2014, will focus on information technology, life sciences and energy technology investments, and currently includes 17 companies. It resulted from a of a restructuring of CMEA legacy funds IV, V and VI, with additional follow-on capital. In addition, the $400 million CMEA VII fund has been renamed Presidio Partners 2007. "We've made some important additions to our team and changes to our business approach," said Jim Watson, the firm's CEO and managing director. "We took what we believed worked, left behind what we believed didn't, and added some differentiated new capabilities -- in particular around portfolio management -- that we believe will better enable us to help portfolio companies successfully tackle the business challenges of the coming decade."

o Los Gatos-Based Stringify Raises $6.3 Million in Seed Round

Los Gatos, Calif. -- Stringify, a stealthy Los Gatos-based startup focused on the Internet of Things, said on Tuesday it has raised $6.3 million in its initial round of seed funding, led by ARTIS Ventures. OurCrowd and other private investors also participated in the round, which the company will use to build out its engineering team and ramp product development. "The Internet of Things is at an important inflection point and we need to get it right," said co-founder and CTO Dave Evans. "It's not just about the hardware, however, it's about the powerful intersection of people, process and of course, the things. Stringify aims to unleash the true potential of IoT by bridging together our physical and digital worlds in ways previously unimagined."

o EY Names Semifinalists for Northern California Entrepreneur of the Year

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Accounting and advisory giant Ernst & Young has announced the 53 semifinalists for its EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2015 Award in the Northern California region. All were selected from 100 nominations by a panel of independent judges. They will be honored at a reception Tuesday night in Menlo Park, with winners announced June 11 in San Francisco. Regional winners are eligible for consideration for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national winner, will be announced at a gala in Palm Springs this November. o San Jose-Based Extreme Networks Names Chairman as New CEO

San Jose, Calif. -- Extreme Networks, a San Jose-based developer of switching and routing products, on Tuesday named Chairman Ed Meyercord as its new president and CEO. He will succeed Chuck Berger, who has resigned from his position and from the company's board. Meyercord, who previously spent more than five years as an independent director on Extreme's board, will continue to support the leadership team at Critical Alert Systems, where he is a significant investor.

o San Francisco-Based Ascendify Lands Investment from GE Ventures

San Francisco -- Ascendify, the San Francisco-based developer of a talent acquisition platform, said it has landed a new investment from GE Ventures. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. GE Ventures had been working with Ascendify to improve its recruiting efforts. The company's cloud-based platform is designed to help large clients attract, develop and retain employees. "This is another step towards blending strategic human resources and technology innovation," said Lisa Coca of GE Ventures. "Ascendify’s platform socially connects and empowers enterprises in new ways."

o WiredScore Expands Connectivity Certification Service to San Fran

San Francisco -- WiredScore, the New York-based developer of a rating system designed to evaluate commercial buildings for their Internet connections, said it has expanded its service to San Francisco and a handful of other cities. So far, 11 buildings in San Francisco have gained the company's Wired Certified status, including 888 Brannan, One Market Plaza and 50 Beale. The rollout also includes cities such as New York, Boston, Chicago and Washington. The company said its concept is similar to LEED certification for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. WiredScore evaluates a building's connectivity by examining the number and quality of Internet service providers, as well as the bandwidth capabilities and reliability of connections that are based on the building’s infrastructure. The evaluation process takes around 60 days, with qualified buildings receiving one of four levels of certification: Platinum, Gold, Silver or Certified. Properties that don't meet minimum standards are offered recommendations on how to improve connectivity.

Graf, most recently general manager of the sustainability business at SAP, will be responsible for leading the company's online platform strategy and execution.

(San Francisco) San Francisco-based Netswitch Technology Management, a provider of managed security services, on Tuesday named Flip Filipowski to its board of directors. Filipowski is the founder of venture capital firm Tally Capital, as well as the co-founder, chairman and CEO of SilkRoad Equity and co-founder and chairman of SilkRoad technology.

(San Francisco) San Francisco-based ServiceSource, a developer of cloud-based technologies and services designed to help clients better manage recurring revenue, has named Gregory Hopkins as its chief customer officer. Hopkins most recently was the executive vice president of global sales at Stream Global Services, which was acquired last March by Convergys.

(San Jose, Calif.) Preparing to separate from parent eBay, San Jose-based PayPal has named Louise Pentland as its general counsel and Jonathan Auerbach as its senior vice president of strategy and growth. Pentland previously served as the executive vice president and chief legal officer at Nokia, while Auerbach was the CEO of Group Digital Life at Singtel.
