o Mountain View-Based Arkin Raises $15 Million in Second Round

Mountain View, Calif. -- Arkin, the Mountain View-based developer of an operations platform for converged infrastructure and software-defined data centers, said it has raised $15 million in its second round of funding. Investors included Nexus Venture Partners, as well as individuals including B.V. Jagadeesh, the former CEO of NetScaler. The news comes just six months after the company emerged from stealth with its initial $7 million round. The company on Tuesday also announced the general availability of its core platform and cloud service, which allows organizations to search, analyze, share and collaborate across virtual and physical layers of their infrastructure. The platform -- which Arkin said offers a "Google Search-like experience" -- can be deployed on-premise or as a cloud service.

o NFL Selects Sunnyvale-Based Yahoo for First-Ever Live Stream of Game

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- The National Football League (NFL) said on Wednesday it has selected Sunnyvale-based Yahoo to deliver the first-ever live stream of an NFL game. The game between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars, taking place Oct. 25 in London, will be carried live, for free, on Yahoo properties, including Yahoo, Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Screen and Tumblr. "Through this partnership with Yahoo -- one of the world's most recognizable digital brands -- we are taking another important step in that direction as we continue to closely monitor the rapidly evolving digital media landscape," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The NFL said it selected Yahoo because of the company's global audience, digital advertising capabilities and delivery platforms, which span desktop, mobile, tablet, connected TVs and set-top boxes.
