o Menlo Park-Based Delphix Raises $75 Million in New Funding

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Delphix, the Menlo Park-based developer of a data-as-a-service platform, said on Monday it has raised $75 million in a new round of funding, led by Fidelity Management and Research. Credit Suisse NEXT Investors, The Kraft Group and previous backers Greylock Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Icon Ventures also participated in the round, which the company will use to bolster its sales, marketing and operations activities. Delphix also said it plans to "aggressively" invest in cloud, analytics and data security technologies. "Applications have become a highly contested battleground for businesses across all industries," said founder and CEO Jedidiah Yueh. "Data as a Service helps our customers complete application releases and cloud migrations in half the time, by making data fast, light and unbreakable -- a huge competitive advantage." This marks the company's first funding round in more than three years.

o San Jose-Based Signifyd Raises $7 Million in First Round of Funding

San Jose, Calif. -- Signifyd, the San Jose-based developer of a cloud platform designed to help online businesses prevent payment fraud, said on Monday it has landed $7 million in its first round of funding, led by Allegis Capital. Resolute Ventures, IA Ventures, QED Investors, Lucas Ventures and Tekton Ventures also took part in the round, which brings the company's total funding to $11.2 million. The company, founded by PayPal veterans Raj Ramanand and Mike Liberty, said it will use the proceeds to accelerate growth and expand its engineering, sales and marketing teams. Pete Bodine, managing director at Allegis, will join the company's board of directors, along with Tim Eades, the CEO of vArmour Networks. Signifyd's platform tells retailers which payments to accept, and guarantees these payments in the case of a chargeback. "The chargeback process for merchants is broken and is clearly ripe for innovation," said Ramanand. "The Signifyd platform marries behavioral psychology with machine learning to interpret user purchasing patterns. It automates a process that takes customer service agents hours each day and puts a guarantee behind that automation."

o RedOwl Analytics Raises $17 Million, Led by Palo Alto's Allegis Capital

San Francisco -- RedOwl Analytics, a Baltimore-based developer of behavioral analytics software designed to help clients spot insider threats, with West Coast offices in San Francisco, said on Monday it has raised $17 million in its second round of funding. Palo Alto-based Allegis Capital led the round, which also included participation from Blackstone Group and Marc Benioff, the founder and CEO of Salesforce. Robert Ackerman, the founder and managing director of Allegis, has joined the company's board of directors. The company, which now has raised $30 million since its inception, plans to use the proceeds to continue its expansion, further build out its product development and data science teams and broaden its go-to-market efforts. RedOwl's Reveal software aggregates large amounts of data on individuals, then uses statistics and machine learning to find changes, patterns and anomalies in their behavior, and predict their future activity. Clients include Blackstone and K2 Intelligence. "Organizations are responsible for the safety of the data they generate and collect, but each employee with access represents another layer of risk," said founder and CEO Guy Filippelli, a U.S. Army veteran who previously worked in military intelligence in Iraq and Afghanistan. Filippelli said his company's software "provides visibility into the human layer of the business."
