o Envestnet to Acquire Redwood City-Based Yodlee for $660 Million

Redwood City, Calif. -- Envestnet, a Chicago-based provider of wealth management technology and services to financial advisors, said on Monday it will acquire Redwood City-based Yodlee, developer of a platform that powers personalized financial apps and services, in a cash and stock deal worth $660 million. Yodlee shareholders will receive $18.88 a share under the deal, which is expected to close either late this year or in early 2016. Founded in 1999, Yodlee powers digital financial apps and services for more than 20 million paid users and 850 financial institutions. The company, which has nearly 1,000 employees, generated revenue\ of $98.6 million for the 12 months ended June 30. Envestnet said it plans to combine Yodlee's technology with its own wealth management platform, helping financial advisors provide broader visibility into their clients' financial well-being. "Financial institutions, advisors and investment managers using the Envestnet platform will be able to provide a more interactive and informative digital advice experience for clients," said Bill Crager, the president of Envestnet.

o S.F.-Based Genstar Capital Raises $2 Billion for Newest Fund

San Francisco -- Genstar Capital, a San Francisco-based private equity firm focused on the financial services, software, industrial technology and healthcare industries, said on Monday that it has raised $2 billion for its newest fund, Genstar Capital Partners VII. Genstar now manages funds with total capital commitments of more than $5 billion. "We will continue investing in growing companies where our operational expertise and financial resources create market-leading companies that are stronger as a result of our involvement," said Jean-Pierre Conte, the firm's managing director and chairman.

o Parade Technologies Acquires Mobile Touchscreen Business from Cypress

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Parade Technologies, a Santa Clara-based supplier of video displays and interface chips, said it has paid approximately $100 million to acquire the TrueTouch mobile touchscreen business from San Jose-based Cypress Semiconductor. Parade said the acquisition will substantially expand its addressable market, increase company scale and diversify its revenue and customer base. Cypress, meanwhile, said the divestiture will allow it to continue its focus on the embedded automotive and industrial markets. The companies first announced their plans for the deal in June.

o Palo Alto-Based Branch Metrics Acquires San Francisco's ClassOwl

Palo Alto, Calif. -- Branch Metrics, the Palo Alto-based developer of a linking tool for mobile app developers, said it has acquired San Francisco-based ed-tech startup ClassOwl. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 2011 by Stanford students Sam Purtill and Julienne Lam, ClassOwl is the developer of a planning and communications app designed to help students keep track of their assignments, deadlines, and group discussions. Branch said adding ClassOwl's team, which is experienced in international marketing, will help the 35-employee company expand deep linking to mobile markets worldwide.

Washington, DC -- Space agency NASA said it has launched an official Tumblr profile that will offer visitors space-related text, photos, videos in a blog-like format.
