o S.F.-Based Channel Medsystems Lands $22 Million in Third Round

San Francisco -- Channel Medsystems, the San Francisco-based developer of a technological treatment for heavy menstrual bleeding in women, said on Monday it has raised $22 million in its third round of funding, led by Third Point Ventures. New investor Longwood Fund and previous backers Scientific Health Development, Aperture Venture Partners, InCube Ventures and Boston Scientific also participated. Jason Hong of Third Point Ventures will join the company's board of directors. "Our technology has the potential to shift this procedure exclusively to the office setting and make the current, heat-based ablation technologies obsolete," said Ric Cote, the company's president and CEO. Channel said it will use the latest funds to launch a study of its cryothermic technology and move closer towards commercialization.

Santa Rosa, Calif. -- Keysight Technologies, the Santa Rosa-based spinoff of electronic measurement company of Agilent Technologies, said it has acquired U.K.-based Electroservices Enterprises, a provider of test equipment services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Electroservices provides a broad range of electrical, mechanical and physical calibration, repair and asset management services to defense, telecom and industrial customers. "This move demonstrates Keysight's commitment to offer customers in Europe a rapidly expanding spectrum of high-quality support services covering their full range of assets," said Chris Rennie, the European general manager for services and managing director of Keysight Technologies U.K.

o S.F.-Based Thoma Bravo to Acquire Majority Stake in DigiCert

San Francisco -- Thoma Bravo, the San Francisco-based private equity firm, said it will acquire a majority stake in Utah-based DigiCert, a provider of enterprise security tools with an emphasis on authentication and encryption. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. TA Associates will sell a portion of its interest and remain a minority shareholder. "SSL and certificate management technology play a critical part in securing the digital economy, and DigiCert has been a market leader in the space," said Seth Boro, managing partner at Thoma Bravo. DigiCert provides digital certificates to more than 115,000 customers in 180 countries.
