o Palo Alto-Based Jaunt Raises $65 Million in Third Round of Funding

Palo Alto, Calif. -- Jaunt, a Palo Alto-based developer of hardware, software and other tools to enable cinematic virtual reality, said on Monday it has raised $65 million in its third round of funding. The Walt Disney Company, Evolution Media Partners and China Media Capital (CMC) co-led the round, which the company will use to expand its global reach and take its technology mainstream. Jaunt said it plans to use the funding to significantly grow its teams in both Palo Alto and Los Angeles. "When Jaunt launched a little over two years ago, VR was the domain of a few enthusiasts like us," said David Anderman, the company's chief business officer. "Fast forward to today, with the ability to view VR content on any current smartphone, and a half dozen head mounted displays launching in the next 12 months, the addressable number of users will instantly be in the millions, and quickly grow from there. We look forward to supplying great content to all those users."
