o San Francisco-Based StreamSets Raises $12.5 Million in First Round

San Francisco -- StreamSets, a San Francisco-based developer of infrastructure designed to accelerate the analysis of large amounts of data, said on Thursday it has raised $12.5 million in its first round of funding, co-led by Battery Ventures and New Enterprise Associates (NEA). Accel Partners and Ignition Partners also participated. Founded last year, StreamSets has developed technology designed to speed the process of collecting and moving data so it can be used for reliable analytics. Co-founder and CEO Girish Pancha was previously chief product officer at Informatica, while fellow co-founder Arvind Prabhakar was an early employee of Cloudera. StreamSets said it will use the proceeds to build an open source community, advance its product roadmap and incrementally invest in partnerships and other go-to-market activities. Pete Sonsini from NEA and Dharmesh Thakker from Battery Ventures will join the company's board of directors.

o San Francisco-Based Prosper Marketplace to Acquire BillGuard

San Francisco -- Prosper Marketplace, the San Francisco-based operator of an online marketplace that connects borrowers and investors, said on Thursday it will acquire BillGuard, a developer of apps designed to help consumers better manage and protect money and credit. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. BillGuard, which has offices in New York and Israel, is backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures, Peter Thiel's Founders Fund, Eric Schmidt's Innovation Endeavors, IA Ventures and SV Angel. Prosper said the acquisition will allow it to offer users an array of tools to help them make smarter financial decisions, and also give it access to engineering and product talent in Israel. "Until now, nobody has brought together marketplace lending and personal finance management," said Aaron Vermut, the CEO of Prosper.

o Menlo Park-Based Andreessen Horowitz Leads $80M Round for Onshape

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Andreessen Horowitz, the Menlo Park-based venture capital firm, has led a new $80 million round of funding for Massachusetts-based Onshape, developer of a cloud 3D CAD (computer-aided design) system that lets members of a design team work together using any web browser, phone or tablet. Previous backers New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Commonwealth Capital Ventures and North Bridge Venture Partners also took part in the round, which increased the company's total funding to $144 million. Onshape said it will use the proceeds to bolster its research and development and customer support activities, as well as bolster global sales and marketing.

o San Jose-Based Datiphy Raises $7 Million in First Round of Funding

San Jose, Calif. -- Datiphy, the San Jose-based developer of a data behavior analysis and security technology platform, said it has raised $7 million in its first round of funding, led by Highland Capital Partners. Founded earlier this year, Datiphy is the creator of a breach detection and database activity auditing platform, designed to provide context to information security and network security teams. "By analyzing the behavior of the data, we can derive things like user behavior, distinguish between what's normal and anomalous, and dramatically reduce the time to detect breaches," said CEO Ted Ho.

o San Rafael-Based Autodesk to Acquire Germany's netfabb

San Rafael, Calif. -- Autodesk, the San Rafael-based design and engineering software company, said on Thursday it will acquire Germany's netfabb, a developer of software for industrial additive design and manufacturing. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Autodesk also will make an unspecified investment in FIT Technology Group, the parent of netfabb. More than 80,000 designers, manufacturers, artists, researchers and developers currently use netfabb software as part of their 3D printing process. Autodesk plans to continue developing and supporting the software, as well as integrate the technology into its own products.

o San Francisco-Based AppDirect Acquires AppCarousel

San Francisco -- AppDirect, the San Francisco-based developer of a cloud service commerce platform designed to unite providers, developers and consumers of cloud services, said on Thursday it has acquired San Francisco-based AppCarousel, a developer of tools delivering apps to smart screens, in-car technology and home entertainment devices. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. AppCarousel will continue to operate as a unit of AppDirect, and all of its more than 80 employees will remain with the company. Founded in 2011, AppCarousel operates curated marketplaces, developer programs and commerce services for electronics, automotive, hardware and technology brands. Daniel Saks, AppDirect's president and co-CEO, said the acquisition will bolster his company's mission to help people find, buy and use software. "As of today that includes software on virtually any connected device," said Saks.
