o San Mateo-Based Exabeam Lands $25 Million in Second Round

San Mateo, Calif. -- Exabeam, a San Mateo-based developer of user behavior analytics tools designed to help users detect and respond to cyber attacks, said on Tuesday it has raised $25 million in its second round of funding. Icon Ventures led the round, which also included participation from previous backers Aspect Ventures, investor Shlomo Kramer and Norwest Venture Partners. The company now has raised $35 million since its inception. Exabeam said its technology uses machine learning and other advanced techniques to distinguish normal and abnormal use of employee account credentials. "Most of these [new] attacks occur using valid account credentials, and UBA [user behavior analytics] is the only solution today that detects and improves response to these attacks," said CEO Nir Polak.
