San Mateo, Calif. -- Stormpath, the San Mateo-based creator of a user management and authentication service for developers, said on Wednesday it has raised $15 million in its second round of funding. Scale Venture Partners led the round, which also included participation from prior investors New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Pelion Venture Partners. Andy Vitus, a partner at Scale Venture Partners, will join the company's board. "This funding will allow us to meet the rapidly growing customer demand and support a wider range of programming frameworks and developer communities," said CEO Alex Salazar.

RA Capital Advisors also participated in the round, which the company will use to advance its lead fusion protein candidate, epsi-gam, through its initial Phase 1 clinical trials and the initiation of Phase 2a studies. Tunitas said it sees epsi-gam as a potential treatment for patients with moderate to severe asthma and for patients with severe, potentially life-threatening food allergies. Campbell, Calif. -- Barracuda Networks, a Campbell-based developer of cloud-connected security and storage tools, said it will acquire Massachusetts-based Intronis, a provider of data protection technology to managed service providers. Financial terms of the deal, expected to close by the end of November, were not disclosed. Barracuda said the acquisition will "greatly expand" its channel reach with the addition of nearly 2,000 managed service providers, as well as a platform designed to streamline how they service the data protection needs of their customers. "It also allows us to expand our market reach, and to offer compelling IT solutions no matter how customers want to consume them," said BJ Jenkins, the president and CEO of Barracuda.
