o Los Altos-Based Netskope Raises $75 Million in Fourth Round

Los Altos, Calif. -- Netskope, the Los Altos-based developer of a cloud app analytics and policy enforcement platform, said on Thursday it has raised $75 million in its fourth round of funding, led by Iconiq Capital. Previous backers Accel Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and the Social + Capital Partnership also participated in the round, which the company will use to expand its sales, marketing, customer success, engineering and research operations. Netskope's platform is designed to let clients mitigate risk, prevent data loss and govern the use of cloud apps on any device. The company said its customer base has grown by 500% over the past year, with the addition of several large healthcare, insurance, banking, retail and manufacturing brands. Netskope now has raised more than $130 million since its inception.

o San Francisco-Based Wrap Media Lands $12.7 Million in Second Round

San Francisco -- Wrap Media, the San Francisco-based developer of a cloud-based interactive storytelling and commerce platform, said on Thursday it has landed $12.7 million in its second round of funding. Raine Ventures and ProSiebenSat.1 Media co-led the round, which also included participation from Christopher Crain of Crain Communications, Dream Incubator, FF Angel, Salesforce Ventures and Transmedia Capital. The company now has raised $18.7 million since its inception last year. Wrap is a mobile, web-based native app alternative, which allows users to have app-like user experiences in bite-sized pieces through the mobile web. "With this new round of funding, we'll be able to optimize our product features, grow the team and expand our go-to market strategy," said founder and CEO Eric Greenberg. In addition to the funding, Wrap also has hired Peter Foster as its chief revenue officer. Foster previously served as the vice president of solutions development at Yahoo.

o Diodes to Acquire Milpitas-Based Pericom Semiconductor

Milpitas, Calif. -- Diodes, a Texas-based maker of semiconductor products, said on Thursday it will pay approximately $400 million to acquire Milpitas-based Pericom Semiconductor, a developer of connectivity and timing chips. Under the deal, expected to close by year's end, Diodes will pay $17 a share in cash. The company said the acquisition will bolster its analog footprint and add a strong mixed-signal connectivity offering. For Pericom, the move is an effort to grow its market. "Diodes' size and scale provides an excellent platform for our products to gain access to a broader customer base and drive a higher level of growth than Pericom would be able to achieve as a standalone company," said Alex Hui, the president and CEO of Pericom.

o AOL to Acquire Millennial Media for $250 Million

New York -- Following weeks of speculation, AOL confirmed on Wednesday that it will pay about $250 million to acquire Millennial Media, the operator of an independent mobile ad marketplace. Reports first surfaced in July that AOL, itself fresh off a $4.4 billion acquisition by Verizon Communications, had begun talks with the company in a bid to bolster its mobile ad capabilities. Under the deal, expected to close this fall, AOL will pay $1.75 a share in cash. "As we continue to invest in our platforms and technology, the acquisition of Millennial Media accelerates our competitive mobile offering in ONE by AOL and enhances our current publisher offering with an 'all in' monetization platform for app developers," said Bob Lord, the president of AOL. Millennial, which went public in 2012 and ranked No. 82 in last year's Deloitte Technology Fast 500, will become a unit of AOL. The company 11 years ago also acquired another Baltimore-based ad technology firm, Advertising.com, for $435 million.
