o San Francisco-Based Atlassian Files to Raise Up to $250 Million in IPO

San Francisco -- Atlassian, a San Francisco-based developer of tools designed to help teams more effectively collaborate and build software, on Monday filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to raise up to $250 million in its initial public offering (IPO). Specific details of the offering, such of the number of shares to be sold or their expected price range, have not been disclosed. The company has applied to list its shares on the NASDAQ Global Market under the symbol "TEAM." Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Morgan Stanley will serve as lead underwriters. Founded in 2002, Atlassian generated $319.5 million in revenue and $6.8 million in new income for the fiscal year ending June 30.

o Palo Alto-Based VersaMe Raises $2.5 Million in Seed Funding

Palo Alto, Calif. -- VersaMe, a Palo Alto-based developer of education wearables for children up to 4 years old, said it has raised $2.5 million in a new round of seed funding. Investors included Learn Capital, Stanford-StartX fund and the family offices of Vincent Viola, Doug Cifu and Richard Dai. The company, which previously had surpassed its crowdfunding goal by more than $40,000, also said it has begun accepting pre-orders for its flagship product, known as the Sterling. Then wearable device tracks the number of words spoken and heard by young children, with the idea that the more words children are exposed to before the age of 4, the greater their future vocabulary. Syncing with a mobile app, it offers activities, encouragement and prompts to help motivate parents to talk more with their kids. VersaMe is selling pre-orders of the device for $149, with shipments expected in April.

o Mountain View-Based Synopsys Acquires Canada's Protecode

Mountain View, Calif. -- Synopsys, a Mountain View-based developer of electronic design automation (EDA) and semiconductor technology, said it has acquired Canada's Protecode, a developer of software used to detect and manage open source software for license and security risks. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Synopsys said the acquisition expands its presence in the software quality and security market, bolstering its existing software composition analysis tool by adding improved OSS license detection. "As organizations continue to rely more and more on open source and third-party components to build software, maintaining total visibility and managing risk throughout the software supply chain is critical," said Andreas Kuehlmann, the senior vice president and general manager of Synopsys' Software Integrity Group. "Understanding software dependencies and their license obligations has been and will continue to be an important part of developing software."

San Francisco -- New Relic, the San Francisco-based developer of a cloud-based software analytics platform, said it has acquired Opsmatic, a San Francisco-based startup focused on live-state infrastructure monitoring for DevOps teams. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. "With this acquisition, New Relic gains Opsmatic's powerful technology that monitors configuration changes at the infrastructure level," said founder and CEO Lew Cirne. "This is important, because we believe today’s successful software teams need real-time visibility into every component of their apps."

o Report: Some Digital Strategy Jobs to See Large Salary Bumps in 2016

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Several jobs in the technology sector are expected to see sizable salary gains in 2016, according to a new report by Robert Half Technology and The Creative Group. The largest jumps are expected to come for professionals focused on digital strategy, led by wireless network engineer (up 9.7% to an average starting salary of $108,750-$150,750). Other jobs in the top five include big data engineer (up 8.9% to $129,500-$183,500), data scientist (up 8.9% to $109,000-$153,750), mobile app developer (up 8.2% to $115,250-$175,750) and content strategist (up 8.1% to $77,500-$109,000). "Companies continue to struggle to find professionals who can help create seamless digital experiences -- from collecting and analyzing customer data to building secure e-commerce environments to providing intuitive, easy-to-navigate websites," said John Reed, senior executive director of Robert Half Technology and The Creative Group.
