o San Francisco-Based Anaplan Raises $90 Million in New Funding Round

San Francisco -- Anaplan, the San Francisco-based developer of a cloud-based business planning and modeling platform, said on Thursday it has raised $90 million in a new round of funding, led by Premji Invest. New investors Baillie Gifford, Founders Circle Capital and Harmony Partners also joined several previous backers in the round, which the company will use to fulfill increasing global demand for its software. In addition, Anaplan has named James Budge as its chief financial officer (CFO). Budge is the former CFO and COO at both Genesys and Rovi. Anaplan's platform and apps are designed to help businesses plan, execute, simulate changes and rapidly course-correct their operations. Customers can choose from more than 100 pre-built planning apps or build their own.

o Mountain View-Based VeloCloud Networks Raises $27 Million

Mountain View, Calif. -- VeloCloud Networks, a Mountain View-based developer of technology designed to simplify branch WAN networking by automating deployment, said on Thursday it has raised $27 million in its third round of funding. March Capital Partners and Cisco Investments co-led the round along with another unnamed investor, with previous backers New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Venrock also participating. The company, which now has raised $49 million since its inception, said it will use the latest proceeds to expand business operations as it accelerates new product development and customer rollouts. VeloCloud's products help customers expand their wide area networks to support application growth, network agility and simplified branch implementations, while delivering optimized access to cloud datacenters and applications.

o San Francisco-Based Rentlytics Raises $9.1 Million in First Round

San Francisco -- Rentlytics, the San Francisco-based developer of a technology platform for owners and managers of multifamily real estate assets, said on Thursday it has landed $9.1 million in its first round of funding, led by Walker & Dunlop. New and previous backers, including Grey Wolf, also participated in the round, which the company will use for additional product development and market expansion. Rentlytics' cloud-based business intelligence software is designed to streamline multifamily management within a single platform, helping owners and managers make more-informed management decisions. "This new funding will be deployed to advance our vision of delivering a comprehensive business intelligence and analytics platform to the multifamily industry," said Rentlytics co-founder and CEO Justin Alanis.

o San Mateo-Based Coupa Software Acquires Contractually

San Mateo, Calif. -- Coupa Software, a San Mateo-based developer of cloud-based spend management software, said on Thursday it has acquired Vancouver-based Contractually, a developer of cloud technology that allows users to streamline the process for contract review. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Coupa said the acquisition will allow it to offer tools designed to reduce businesses' reliance on antiquated processes when it comes to editing and signing contracts. The company, itself, has had contract repository and alerting functionality embedded into its Spend Management suite since 2012. "The synergy here is very clear as we will extend our existing contract repository and alerting functionality to add contract lifecycle management that starts with a collaboration document for authoring," said David Williams, Coupa's vice president of technology.

o Palo Alto-Based SurveyMonkey Names Zander Lurie as New CEO

Palo Alto, Calif. -- Following just six months at the helm, Bill Veghte has stepped down as the CEO of Palo Alto-based only survey company SurveyMonkey. The company has named Chairman Zander Lurie as his successor, with board member David Ebersman taking over as chairman. Both Lurie and Veghte will continue on the company's board. All changes will go into effect as of Saturday. Veghte, the former COO of HP, took over as CEO in July, two months after the sudden passing of Dave Goldberg. Lurie had served as SurveyMonkey's temporary executive chair during the company's initial CEO search. He previously served as the senior vice president of entertainment at GoPro, the senior vice president of strategic development at CBS and CFO of CBS Interactive.
