o Menlo Park-Based Summit Partners Acquires Alameda-based Perforce Software

Menlo Park, Calif. -- Summit Partners, the Menlo Park-based investment firm, said on Tuesday it has acquired Alameda-based Perforce Software, developer of a version control and collaboration platform. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. In connection, Janet Dryer, the former president, CEO and executive chairman of Minnesota-based HelpSystems, will take over as CEO from founder Christopher Seiwald. Summit previously backed Dryer twice during her tenure as CEO. Founded in 1995, Perforce is the developer of a source code management and collaboration platform used by more than 10,000 customers, including Salesforce, Electronic Arts, NVIDIA, Cisco, Samsung and VMware. "We believe Perforce's addressable market is significant and growing, driven by the increasing complexity of enterprise development and deployment environments," said Peter Rottier, managing director of Summit.

o S.F.-Based Salesforce Names Keith Block to Additional Role of COO

San Francisco -- Salesforce, the San Francisco-based maker of customer relationship management software, on Tuesday named Keith Block, its vice chairman and president, to the additional role of chief operating officer (COO). Block, who has been with the company since 2013, will now oversee its day-to-day operations, in addition to his previous responsibilities of leading global sales, alliances and channels, industry strategy, customer success and consulting services. "In his three years at Salesforce, Keith has proven to be an exceptional leader who has been instrumental to our phenomenal growth," said Marc Benioff, the company's chairman and CEO. "In his expanded role, Keith will bring stronger alignment across our customer-facing and company operations." Earlier, Block was Oracle's executive vice president of North America sales and consulting, and began his career at Booz Allen Hamilton as a senior consultant.

o San Francisco-Based Fanatics Acquires U.K. Counterpart Kitbag

San Francisco -- Fanatics, a San Francisco-based online seller of officially licensed sports merchandise, said on Tuesday it has acquired U.K.-based counterpart Kitbag. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The company said the acquisition will help it grow its sports merchandise business both in soccer and across all sports globally. Kitbag runs its own site as well as the online and retail business for more than 25 partners across European soccer, motorsports, rugby, tennis and golf. It also operates the e-commerce businesses for the NFL, NBA and NHL in Europe.

o San Jose-Based Pixelworks Says Bruce Walicek Has Resigned as CEO

San Jose, Calif. -- Pixelworks, the San Jose-based developer of video display processing technology, said late Monday that Bruce Walicek has resigned as its president and CEO for personal reason. He also has stepped down from the company's board, but will remain a consultant to the company for up to six months. Pixelworks' board has launched a search for a new CEO, and appointed board member Stephen Domenik to assume the role on an interim basis. "[Walicek] contributed significantly to the repositioning of Pixelworks over the past eight years, and we appreciate his efforts," said Chairman Richard Sanquini. "The board is actively working to appoint a permanent CEO." Domenik is a general partner with venture capital firm Sevin Rosen Funds, and previously served as the chairman of Meru Networks. The company also named Todd DeBonis, the former vice president of global sales and strategic development at TriQuint Semiconductor, as its chief operating officer (COO)

o Citrix Names Kevin Parker as Chairman of GoTo Products Spinoff

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Citrix Systems, the Santa Clara-based developer of mobile workspaces, has named Kevin Parker, the co-founder and senior operating principal at Bridge Growth Partners, as chairman of the new spinoff it plans to form around its GoTo family of products. The company announced plans for the spinoff last November, with the separation expected to be completed after midyear. Parker previously served as the chairman, president and CEO of Deltek, and earlier was the CEO of PeopleSoft. The new company, yet to be named, will consist of GoToAssist, GoToMeeting, GoToMyPC, GoToTraining, GoToWebinar, Grasshopper and OpenVoice. For the year ended Sept. 30, those products and services generated approximately $600 million in revenue. Chris Hylen, who currently serves as senior vice president and general manager of the Citrix Mobility Apps Business Unit, will serve as CEO.
